1 Introduction
1.1 Introduction
Mahad is a city in Raigad district situated in the North Konkan region of Maharashtra state, India.
Surrounded by Sahyadri Mountains and thus low-lying area prone to floods. Receives highest
rainfall as proximity to rain catcher forest of Raigad Fort Natural Reserve and 2 rivers i.e. Savitri
and Gandhari, abutting from 3 sides of the city.

to get overflooded. Open and inadequate drains get chocked and poor storm water networks
cause water to enter the city. High tide also adds up to the rise in river water
Construction in the zone of blue and red flood line negates water percolation in the ground
thus inducing flood like situation.
