Incentives to Encourage Agribusiness
Agribusiness is one of the preferred areas of investments incentivized by the government under the
2020 Investment Priorities Plan (IPP) of the DTI-Board of Investments (BOI). The IPP is consistent
with the O+10 Point Socio-Economic Agenda and Ambisyon Natin 2040. Projects and activities
eligible for incentives include the following:

• Commercial production of agricultural, fishery, and forestry products;


• intermediate goodsincluding
Agro-processing, manufacturing of Halal and Kosher food, to produce semi-finished or
as inputs in the production of other goods or finished products or consumer
goods for final consumption;
• Establishment and operation of related support services and infrastructure – nurseries, hatcheries,
mechanized drying, cold storage, blast freezing, bulk handling and storage, food irradiation, land
preparation and crop maintenance services, ice plants in Less Developed Areas, AAA slaughterhouses
and AAA poultry dressing plants;
• Infrastructure and logistics for cargo, air/land/water transport, testing laboratories, training/
learning facilities and domestic industrial zone, etc.;
• Manufacture of agri-fishery machinery and equipment; and
• Innovation activities as follows:
1. Conduct of commercial R&D activities
2. Commercialization of new and emerging technologies - agri-biotechnology tools, hardware or
software for disaster mitigation or for increasing agricultural productivity, remote monitoring
devices or systems, natural health products, and others.

Incentives for BOI-registered enterprises engaged in agribusiness projects and activities under the
2020 IPP are as follows:

1. Income Tax Holiday (ITH)


a. 6 years for projects with pioneer status and for projects in a Less Developed Area;
b. 4 years for new projects with non-pioneer status; and
c. 3 years for expansion/modernization projects;
2. Duty exemption on imported capital equipment, spare parts and accessories;
3. Exemption from wharfage dues and any export tax, duty, impost and fees;
