The spiritual master is receiving benediction from the ocean of mercy. Just as a cloud
pours water on a forest fire to extinguish it, so the spiritual master delivers the
materially afflicted world by extinguishing the blazing fire of material existence. I
offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master, who is an
ocean of auspicious qualities.

Chanting the holy name, dancing in ecstasy, singing, and playing musical
instruments, the spiritual master is always gladdened by the sankirtana movement of
Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Because he is relishing the mellows of pure devotion
within his mind, sometimes his hair stands on end, he feels quivering in his body, and
tears flow from his eyes like waves. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet
of such a spiritual master.

The spiritual master is always engaged in the temple worship of Sri Sri Radha and
Krsna. He also engages his disciples in such worship. They dress the Deities in
beautiful clothes and ornaments, clean Their temple, and perform other similar
worship of the Lord. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a
spiritual master.

The spiritual master is always offering Krsna four kinds of delicious food [analyzed
as that which is licked, chewed, drunk, and sucked]. When the spiritual master sees
that the devotees are satisfied by eating bhagavat-prasada, he is satisfied. I offer my
respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.

The spiritual master is always eager to hear and chant about the unlimited conjugal
pastimes of Radhika and Madhava, and Their qualities, names, and forms. The
spiritual master aspires to relish these at every moment. I offer my respectful
obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.
nikunja-yuno rati-keli-siddhyai
The spiritual master is very dear, because he is expert in assisting the gopis, who at
different times make different tasteful arrangements for the perfection of Radha and
Krsna's conjugal loving affairs within the groves of Vrndavana. I offer my most
humble obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.
sakshad-dharitvena samasta-shastrair
By the mercy of the spiritual master one receives the benediction of Krsna. Without
the grace of the spiritual master, one cannot make any advancement. Therefore, I
should always remember and praise the spiritual master. At least three times a day I
should offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of my spiritual master.
I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami
Prabhupada, who is very dear to Lord Krsna, having taken shelter at His lotus feet.
Our respectful obeisances are unto you, O spiritual master, servant of Bhaktisiddhanta
Sarasvati Goswami. You are kindly preaching the message of Lord Caitanya and
delivering the Western countries, which are filled with impersonalism and voidism.

1) The night has come to an end and the light of dawn is entering. O jiva soul, arise and give up your
sleep. Chant the holy names of Lord Hari, who is the giver of liberation; the enemy of the Mura demon;
the supreme enjoyer; the all-attractive one; and the horse-headed incarnation, Hayagriva.
2) Lord Hari [Krsna] incarnated as the half-man, half-lion, Nrsimha. He appeared as a dwarf-brahmana
named Upendra and is the killer of the Madhu demon. He is the beloved son of the King of Vraja, Nanda
Maharaja, and is blackish in complexion. He is the slayer of the Putana witch and the destroyer of the
demon Kaitabha. All glories to Lord Hari, who appeared as Lord Rama, the son of King Dasaratha.
3) He is the darling of mother Yasoda; the giver of pleasure to the cows, land, and spiritual senses; and
the protector of the cows. He is the Lord of the Vrndavana forest; the gopis' beloved; the lover of
Radhika; and the most beautiful personality in all the worlds.
4) As Ramacandra He brought about the end of the demoniac King Ravana; as Krsna He stole the older
gopis' butter; He stole the younger gopis' clothes while they were bathing in the Yamuna. He is a
cowherd boy of Vraja and the protector of the cowherd boys. He steals the hearts of all and always
holds a flute.
5) Lord Krsna is worshiped by the best of yogis and is the son of Nanda. He removes all the fears of the
inhabitants of Vraja. He is the color of a fresh rain cloud, and His form is enchanting. When He wanders
about, playing His flute, He looks very charming.
6) He is the son of Yasoda and the killer of King Kamsa, and He sports in the rasa dance among the
groves of Vraja. Krsna engages in this rasa dance underneath the kadamba trees, and He resides in the
forest of Vrndavana.
7) He increases the ecstasy of His devotees. He is the reservoir of all love and is the transcendental
Cupid who uses His flowered arrows to increase the loving desires of the gopis. He is the pleasure of the
gopis' hearts and the abode of all wonderful qualities.
8) Lord Krsna is the life of the River Yamuna. He is always absorbed in amorous pastimes, and He is the
moon of the gopis' minds, which are like the cakora birds that subsist only upon moonlight. O mind,
obey these words of mine and sing the glories of Sri Krsna in the form of these holy names, which are
full of nectarean mellows.
REMARKS/EXTRA INFORMATION:
This song is sung in Mangala Arotik in some temples in Vrndavana. As this is a morning song, this raga
follows the same tune of Samsara Davanala Lidha Loka or Udilo Aruna.

things and the supreme refuge.

O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of half-
man, half-lion! All glories to you! Just as one can easily crush a wasp between one's
fingernails, so in the same way the body of the wasplike demon Hiranyakasipu has
been ripped apart by the wonderful pointed nails on your beautiful lotus hands.
I offer my repeated obeisances unto Vrinda, Srimati Tulasi Devi, who is very dear to Lord Kesava. O goddess, you
bestow devotional service to Krishna and you possess the highest truth.

Translation:
(1) O Tulasi, beloved of Krishna, I bow before you again and again. My desire is to obtain the service of Sri Sri Radha
and Krishna.
(2) Whoever takes shelter of you has his wishes fulfilled. Bestowing your mercy on him, you make him a resident of
Vrindavana.
(3) My desire is that you will also give me a residence in the pleasure groves of Sri Vrindavana-dhama. Thus within
my vision I will always behold the beautiful pastimes of Radha and Krishna.
(4) I beg you to make me a follower of the cowherd damsels of Vraja. Please give me the privilege of devotional
service and make me your own maidservant.
(5) This very fallen and lowly servant of Krsna prays, "May I always swim in the love of Sri Radha and Govinda.
Sri Tulasi Pradakshina Mantra
yani kani ca papani brahma-hatyadikani ca
tani tani pranasyanti pradakshinah pade pade
By the circumambulation of Srimati Tulasi Devi all the sins that one may have committed are destroyed at every step,
even the sin of killing a brahmana.
Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu instructed His disciples to write books on the science of Krishna,
a task which His followers have continued to carry out down to the present day. The
elaborations and expositions on the philosophy taught by Lord Caitanya are, in fact, the
most voluminous, exacting, and consistent, due to the system of disciplic succession.
Although Lord Caitanya was widely renowned as a scholar in His youth, He left only eight
verses, called Sikshashtaka. These eight verses clearly reveal His mission and precepts.
These prayers are translated as follows.
Glory to the sri-krishna-sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for
years and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This
sankirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the
rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It increases the
ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are
always anxious.
O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You
have hundreds and millions of names, like Krishna and Govinda. In these transcendental
names You have invested all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and
fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily
approach You by Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for
them.
(3) trinad api sunicena
taror api sahishnuna
amanina manadena
kirtaniyah sada harih
One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself
lower than the straw in the street; one should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all
sense of false prestige, and should be ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of
mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly.
O almighty Lord, I have no desire to accumulate wealth, nor do I desire beautiful women,
nor do I want any number of followers. I only want Your causeless devotional service, birth
after birth.
O son of Maharaja Nanda [Krishna], I am Your eternal servitor, yet somehow or other I
have fallen into the ocean of birth and death. Please pick me up from this ocean of death
and place me as one of the atoms at Your lotus feet.
O my Lord, when will my eyes be decorated with tears of love flowing constantly when I
chant Your holy name? When will my voice choke up, and when will the hairs of my body
stand on end at the recitation of Your name?
I know no one but Krishna as my Lord, and He shall remain so even if He handles me
roughly by His embrace or makes me brokenhearted by not being present before me. He is
completely free to do anything and everything, for He is always my worshipful Lord,
unconditionally.

Sri Harinama Prabhu ki Jai
HARE KRSNA HARE KRSNA KRSNA KRSNA HARE HARE
HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE
It is essential for a neophyte devotee who is beginning to follow the path of devotional service to
observe these ten principles. One should also try to avoid offenses in serving the Lord and in chanting
His holy names.
There are ten kinds of offenses which one can commit while chanting the holy name, and they should be
avoided.
(from Nectar of Devotion)
The offenses against chanting the holy name are as follows:
(1) To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives for propagating the holy name of the
Lord.
(2) To consider the names of demigods like Lord Shiva or Lord Brahma to be equal to, or independent of
the name of Lord Vishnu.
(Sometimes the atheistic class of men take it that any demigod is as good as the Supreme Personality of
Godhead, Vishnu But one who is a devotees knows that no demigod, however great he may be, is
independently as good as the Supreme Personality of godhead. Therefore, if someone thinks that he can
chant Kali, Kali, or Durga, Durga and it is the same as Hare Krishna that is the greatest offence.)
(4) To blaspheme the Vedic literature or literature in pursuance of the Vedic version.
(7) To commit the sinful activities on the strength of the holy name of the Lord.
(It should not be taken that because by chanting the holy name of the Lord one can be freed from all
kinds of sinful reaction, one may continue to act sinfully and after that chant Hare Krishna to neutralize
his sins. Such a dangerous mentality is very offensive and should be avoided.)
(8) To consider the chanting of Hare Krishna one of the auspicious ritualistic activities offered in the
Vedas as fruitive activities (karma kanda).
(9) To instruct a faithless person about the glories of the holy name.
(Any one can take part in chanting the holy name of the Lord, but in the beginning one should not be
instructed about the transcendental potency of the Lord, Those who are too sinful cannot appreciate
the transcendental glory of the Lord and therefore it is better not to instruct them in this matter.)
(10) To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy name and to maintain material attachments,
even after understanding so many instructions in this matter.
It is also an offence to be inattentive while chanting, every devotee who claims to be a Vaishnava must
carefully guard against these offences in order to quickly achieve the desired success / results / goals
(Krishna Prem) . Hare Krishna.
Remember that even if one feels they are being offensive, there is no need to stop
chanting. By trying to chant sincerely and serving the spiritual master, we may be
purified of our offenses and may be able to chant purely. Chant Hare Krsna and Be
Happy!
I offer my respectful obeisances unto the Vaishnava devotees of the Lord. They are
just like desire trees and can fulfill the desires of everyone, and they are full of
compassion for the fallen conditioned souls.

The lotus feet of our spiritual master are the only way by which we can attain pure
devotional service. I bow to his lotus feet with great awe and reverence. By his grace
one can cross the ocean of material suffering and obtain the mercy of Krsna.
My only wish is to have my consciousness purified by the words emanating from his
lotus mouth. Attachment to his lotus feet is the perfection that fulfills all desires.
Prayer Power
Before beginning your Japa session, remember your Gurudeva, Srila Prabhupada and the disciplic
succession and offer prayers to them.
I am by nature the eternal servant of Krsna. But because of my bad fortune, I have been inimical
towards Krsna from time immemorial. Identifying with my body, I have been continuously wandering in
the cycle of birth and death in the material world, suffering the burning three-fold miseries. As a result
of some unimaginable good fortune I have attained the mercy of my spiritual master, and now I know

and subtle body. I have obtained the good fortune of serving the lotus feet of Sri Guru. Under his order, I
am following in his footsteps to serve the lotus feet of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Sri Sri Jagannatha –
Baladeva – Subhadra, Sri Sri Radha– Shyamsundara and Sri Sita Ram Lakshman Hanuman - Pancaratra
Pradipa.
Oh Vaishnava Thakura, alone I have no strength to chant the holy name of Lord Shri Hari, I beg you,
therefore, please be merciful and with a particle of faith, give me the treasure of the holy name of Krsna
– Sri Bhaktivonoda Thakura.
O My Lord, O Supreme Personality of Godhead, will I again be able to serve your eternal servants, who
finds shelter only at your lotus feet? O Lord of my life, may I again become their servant so that my mind
may always think of your transcendental attributes, my words always glorify those attributes, and my
body always engage in the loving service of your lordship? Srimad Bhagavatam 6.11.24
O name that destroys the many sufferings of them who take shelter of You, O Name that is the form of
delightful and intense spiritual bliss, O Name that is a festival of happiness for Gokula, O perfect and
complete Holy Name of Lord Krsna, I bow down and offer my respect to you – Srila Rupa Goswami.
During Japa:
Often the mind will distract us during our chanting; prayers like the following can help us greatly during
such frustrating times:
1. O fool! O rascal mind! This body is under constant attack from innumerable attachments and
diseases and death is certain. What remedial measures have you taken? Just drink the medicine
of K ’ m ,w fo ll ! – Mukundamala.
2. O mind, why are you giving up of K ’ m o lk of f ml
problems, security and all? What can I say to you? Just chant the holy name – Madhurya
Kadambini.
3. O Radha Krsna, you are like two great oceans of mercy. Please be merciful unto me, I take
shelter of you and surrender unto you. Although I am a sinner and an offender, please engage
me in your divine loving service – Sanat Kumara Samhita.
4. O Hari! My merciful Lord! All glories to You, the Lord of Radha! Many times I have avoided you,
but these times please take me as your own – Songs of Vaisnava Acharyas
At the end of your chanting session, we suggest that you offer the result to Nama Prabhu with a
personal prayer. The following prayers are also beautifully appropriate:
1. I commit thousand of offences day and night, O Madhusudana, but please think of me as your
servant and kindly forgive them – Pancaratra Pradipa.
2. O Lord of my heart, please hear my prayer. You are the Supreme Lord. Please do not reject me.
Even if I commit offenses, still you are my only protector. Please give me some insignificant
service and consider me your own servant – Prema Bhakti Candrika.
After this, we suggest that you offer your heartfelt obeisances to Nama Prabhu, Srila Prabhupada and
your spiritual master and beg your blissful day of service for their pleasure.
Simply by remembering the spiritual master, the devotees of the Lord, and the Personality of Godhead
one invokes their benedictions, destroys all difficulties and very easily fulfills his own desires.
One receives one-hundredth portion of religious merit (punya phala) of an elevated person by thinking
of him.
(1) Just worship Sri Gaurahari, who is always affectionate toward His devotees. He is
the same Supreme Godhead, Krishna, who sported in the cowherd pastures of Vraja
and stole the hearts of Nanda and Yasoda.
(2) Mother Yasoda calls to Krishna, "My dear Damodara, it is very late. Please come
right now, sit down in the dining hall, and take Your lunch."
(3) On the direction of Nanda Maharaja, Krishna, the holder of Govardhana Hill, sits
down, and then all the cowherd boys, along with Krishna's elder brother, Sri Baladeva,
sit down in rows to take their lunch.
(4) They are then served a feast of sukta and various kinds of green leafy vegetables,
then nice fried things, and a salad made of the green leaves of the jute plant. They are
also served pumpkin, baskets of fruit, small square cakes made of lentils and cooked-
down milk, then thick yogurt, squash cooked in milk, and vegetable preparations made
from the flower of the banana tree.
(5) Then they receive fried squares of mung dahl patties, and urad dahl patties, capatis,
and rice with ghee. Next, sweets made with milk, sugar, and sesamum; rice flour cakes;
thick cooked-down milk; cakes floating in milk; and sweet rice.
(6) There is also sweet rice that tastes just like nectar due to its being mixed with
camphor. There are bananas, and cheese which is nectarean and delicious. They are
also served twelve kinds of sour preparations made with tamarinds, limes, lemons,
oranges, and pomegranates.
(7) There are puris made with white flour and sugar; puris filled with cream; laddus; and
dahl patties boiled in sugared rice. Krishna eagerly eats all of the food.]
(8) In great ecstasy and joy Krishna eats the rice, curried vegetables, sweets, and
pastries cooked by Srimati Radharani.
(9) Krishna’s funny brahmana friend Madhumangala, who is very fond of laddus, gets
them by hook or by crook. Eating the laddus, he shouts, "Haribol! Haribol!" and makes a
funny sound by slapping his sides under his armpits with his hands.
(10) Beholding Radharani and Her gopi friends out of the corners of His eyes, Krishna
eats at the house of mother Yasoda with great satisfaction.
(11) After lunch, Krishna drinks rose-scented water. Then all of the boys, standing in
lines, wash their mouths.
(12) After all the cowherd boys wash their hands and mouths, in great bliss they take
rest with Lord Balarama.
(13) The two cowherd boys Jambula and Rasala then bring Krishna pan made with
betel nuts, fancy spices, and catechu. After eating that pan, Sri Krishnacandra then
happily goes to sleep.
(14) While Krishna happily takes His rest on an excellent bedstead, His servant
Visalaksha cools Him with a fan of peacock feathers.
(15) At mother Yasoda’s request the gopi Dhanishtha brings remnants of food left on
Krishna’s plate to Srimati Radharani, who eats them with great delight.
(16) Lalita-devi and the other gopis then receive the remnants, and within their hearts
they sing the glories of Radharani and Krishna with great joy.
(17) Thakura Bhaktivinoda, whose one and only joy is the pastimes of Lord Hari, sings
this Bhoga-arati song.
(2) These pure, holy names of Lord Hari are full of sweet, nectarean pastimes. Krishna is the Lord of the
twelve forests of Vraja, He is ever-youthful and is the best of lovers. He is always playing on a flute, and He is
an excellent dresser.
(3) Krishna is the protector of the inhabitants of Vraja; the destroyer of various demoniac dynasties; the keeper
and tender of Nanda Maharaja’s cows; the giver of pleasure to the cows, land, and spiritual senses; the husband
of the goddess of fortune; the butter thief; and the beautiful cowherd boy of Nanda Maharaja.
(4) Krishna wanders along the banks of the River Yamuna. He stole the garments of the young damsels of
Vraja who were bathing there. He delights in the mellows of the rasa dance; He is very merciful; the lover and
beloved of Srimati Radharani; the great dancer of Vrindavana; and the shelter and only refuge of Thakura
Bhaktivinoda.

Caitanya's head.
3) Lord Caitanya has sat down on a jeweled throne, and the demigods, headed by Lord
Brahma, perform the arati ceremony
4) Narahari Sarakara and other associates of Lord Caitanya fan Him with camaras, and
devotees headed by Sanjaya Pandita, Mukunda Datta, and Vasu Ghosa sing sweet
kirtana.
5) Conchshells, bells, and karatalas resound, and the mrdangas play very sweetly. This
kirtana music is supremely sweet and relish able to hear.

choked with the ecstasy of transcendental love. Thus Thakura Bhaktivinoda envisions
the glory of Lord Sri Caitanya.
