Personalities who made a huge impact to the Digital Age

Morton Leonard Heilig (December 22, 1926 – May 14, 1997)

Morton Heilig, an American Cinematographer, was the first to realize augmented reality (AR) and
virtual reality (VR) to a certain degree in the form of "Sensorama" in 1957 and patented in 1962. He had the
idea to create "Sensorama" when he was fascinated by Cinerama and 3-D films after the release of a
promotional film called "This is Cinerama" in 1952.

Sensorama is a big apparatus that consist of multiple technologies to stimulate all of the senses:
there was a combined full colour 3D video, audio, vibrations, smell and atmospheric effects, such as wind. It
gave the user the experience of riding a motorcycle on the streets of Brooklyn. The user felt the feeling of the
wind rushing through their faces, the engine of the motorcycle vibrating and even the smell of the city.
Unfortunately, the Sensorama comes to an end because of the high cost and business community doesn’t
know how to sell it.
To this day, augmented reality exists and used by different sector and trying to improve it to perfection,
thanks to Heilig and his idea of Sensorama. Augmented Reality is used in medical training, design & modeling,
classroom education and many more. AR / VR helps increase engagements and interaction and also provides
richer user experience.
Jeff Bezos
Jeff Preston Bezos, an American entrepreneur, investor and computer engineer, is the founder of
the world’s first online marketplace, the Amazon.com. One of the biggest online marketplace, Amazon opens
up the world to a different. He is one of the key factor in the success of commerce in online platform. But as
the time passes, there are many online marketplaces inspired by the success of Amazon are emerging in the
commerce sector (Alibaba, Shopee, Lazada, Shopify, etc.).

Jeff Bezos founded Blue Origin on September 2000, a spaceflight company that specializes in
rocket engines, launch vehicles and space capsules. Blue Origin’s goal is to make space travel cheap,
frequent, and more accessible, through reusable launch systems. On July 20, 2021, the company
successfully send off Jeff Bezos and three others to space and back in just 15 minutes

With the success of the company’s mission, it opens up the world to a much wider potential of
exploration and research that will be useful for the humanity in the future ahead.
Elon Musk
Elon Reeve Musk, a South African - Canadian entrepreneur and business magnate, is the founder
and co-founder of some of the Powerhouse Companies such as Space Exploration Technologies
Corporation (SpaceX), Tesla, PayPal, Neuralink and OpenAI. He also owns the cryptocurrency known as
“Bitcoin”, “Doge Coin” and “Ethereum”.

SpaceX was established on May 2002 as an aerospace manufacturer, space transportation and
communication company. Elon Musk goal is to reduce the cost of space transportation to make sure the
success of colonizing the planet Mars. SpaceX, just like Blue Origin is helping NASA in its quest to explore
and gain more knowledge about the space.

As SpaceX are operating for space exploration, Elon Musk also enter the world of transportation,
as he invested in Tesla Inc., and making him the CEO of the said company. Tesla Inc., is a company
manufacturing the electric vehicle and energy product with a goal of accelerating the transition of the world
into sustainable energy. Tesla Inc. made some developments in the capability of electric cars. They
research about the function of auto piloting of a car and also the improvement of auto pilot to full self-driving
cars by using camera, radar, and sensors.

Elon Musk also enter the neuroscience scene through the company Neuralink which studies the
possibilities of curing blindness, paralysis and other diseases that mainly cause by our malfunctioning
brain. It specializes in making a chip that can be control by smartphones and computer. This chip will be
implanted in our skull with wires embedded few millimeters into the surface of the brain.
