RECTIFICATION
The conversion of alternating current (AC)
to direct current (DC), this involves a
device that only allows one-way flow of
electrons.

TYPES OF RECTIFICATION
Single-phase Rectifiers
A) Half-wave rectification,
B) Full-wave rectification,
C) Full-wave bridge rectifier,
Three-phase Rectifiers
A) Three-phase, half-wave circuit,
B) Three-phase, full-wave circuit using center-tapped
transformer,

Full Wave Rectifier
In which either positive or negative portions are
inverted so that the entire signal has the same
polarity.

Full Wave Rectifier Output
In this case of Rectification we gets a complete
inverted signal to the positive portion like this
show on figure.

Three Phase Rectification
A three-phase diode rectifier converts a three-phase AC voltage
at the input to a DC voltage at the output.

ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGE FULL WAVE
BRIDGE RECTIFIER
ADVANTAGE:
need for center tap Xformer is eliminated.
PIV is one half of that of center tape circuit.
Output is twice than that of center tap circuit.
DISADVANTAGE:
Requires 4 diodes.
Internal resistance voltage drop is twice than
that of centre tap circuit.
