WIKIS
• Wiki is a website containing information that
can be created, organized and revised by
the members of the wiki.
– Example: Wikipedia

• Wikipedia contains information about

anything and an online community wherein
people can edit the contents of its pages.
Wikis are used because:
1. They are easy to create and set up.
2. They are easy to search and
navigate.
3. They are organize information
efficiently.
4. There are a lot of free wiki software
online.
5. An online community is created
through wikis.
 STEPS IN CREATING A WIKI

• Go to www.wikispaces.com and
select Sign In. Type in the username
and password given by your
teacher.
 Dashboard to create a wiki
1. Select Create Wiki.
2. We will be asked for information. Fill
out the forms with the required
information.
3. Supply a wiki name. Wikispaces will
let us know if we can use that wiki
name.
4. After filling out all of the necessary
information, select Create.
 Parts of Wiki
1. Wikispaces logo- it is used to go back to
our account’s dashboard.
2. Wiki name- It is the name of the wiki. If we
want other users to find our wiki, they should
type the wiki name and attach
wikispace.com to the wiki name.
3. Page- it is used to add a new page to our
wiki. A wiki can contain a combination of
pages with different contents.
4. File- It is used to upload a file to
our wiki.
5. Discuss- It is used to start a
discussion within the community.
6. Project- it is used to add a new
project date.
7. Event- it is used to add a new
event.
8. Navigation- It is used to go other
pages in the wiki.

 MEMBER INVITATION
1. Select the Members link.
2. We can invite people by doing any of
the following:
a. Select Invite People, then input their
usernames or e-mail addresses.
Afterward, select Send.
b. Select Create Code so that a code will be
generated. Then we give this code to the
people we want to invite.
 Wiki Join Code
1. If we were invited by the original
creator of that wiki, it will just
appear on our dashboard.
2. If we were given a join code, we
should go to their wiki address (ex.
Wikiname.wikispaces.com) and
input code.
