~ Don't you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So
run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will
fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. ~ 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 NLT
CHIN-UPS: Lift your chin up and hold it there as long as possible. You are
feeling so wonderful about your relationship with Jesus that you can't
let it down. Rest. Repeat. Don't worry, just keep working at it, you'll
get better at this one.
LIFTS: Go to the area where you keep your Bible. Do not be concerned about
it's weight, you can do this! Open it up and read a chapter. Rest.
Repeat. Lift it over and over! You'll be amazed how strong you will
become!
KNEE BENDS: Find a nice private place for this exercise. Start by going from
a standing position to a kneeling position. Well, you might as well
speak with God while your there. Rest. Repeat. This exercise will take
some practice, but you can do it! He is glad to hear from you!
SHADOWBOXING: You might want to shut the blinds for this one. Dance
around a little bit, avoiding your enemies strikes. Deliver a cross,
uppercut, jab, jab, cross and a knock-out punch! Great job! Rest.
Repeat. Now, I must warn you. Be careful! This is only intended for
exercise purposes, but if you are to mentally produce an opponent, we
recommend Satan! Be careful with this exercise because he does hit
back! Work on your ducking and blocking!
OVERHEAD RAISES: This exercise is most effective done with music that
praises the Lord. So, to get the ultimate stretch, extend both hands out
and up to the sky. Really put them up there, stretch them high in the
air! Rest. Repeat. How did that feel? Maybe a little uncomfortable at
first, but your really getting the hang of it!
PUSH-UPS: We've got work to do! This exercise can be performed anywhere
and anytime, but our research shows that it is rarely done. The sad
part is Jesus asks us very specifically to do it. I don't know about you,
but based on that, I'm ready to get busy! So try these performing the
exercise here: Push up your neighbor's trash to the curb, push up an
elderly widow's snow to the street, push up a stranded person's car to a
safe parking lot, push up a fallen fence for the disabled. You got the
idea now and look at you! Finding all kinds of things to push up for
Jesus Christ! Oh, and try this if you really want to get results: Give
Him the credit!
SIT-UPS: Sit-up and take notice of where you are after this program. Do you
feel stronger? Do you feel closer to Him? Now, sit-up and know how
much He loves you! We can exercise a lot of muscles in our body, but
to grow closer to Jesus; we have to exercise our heart! So, what is the
real key to this program?
~ Tom Rogers ~
I bundled up in my hooded coat and thick gloves and stepped out the
door. The bitterly cold wind instantly bit into my face. I smiled grimly,
gave a quick look to the heavens, and grabbed my snow shovel. I bent
down, scooped up a shovel full of snow, lifted it slightly, and tossed it
to the side. Slowly, one shovel at a time I worked my way down the side
of the hill, creating my own walking path as I went. I bent, scooped,
lifted, and tossed again and again. Each step needed another shovel
full of snow to be moved. After a few minutes I would stop, rest, and
stretch my sore back. I would look up at the gently falling flakes,
breath in the ice cold air, and start again. Minute by minute and
shovel by shovel I made my way down the paths, cleaned the cars, and
cleared the porches. When I was finally finished I was amazed that I
had done it all. It had taken my best effort. My fingers were froze, but
my heart was warm with happiness. I smiled and thanked God for once
again giving me the strength to do what I needed to do.
This life gives us many heavy snows to dig out of. This life gives us
countless impossible jobs to do. Still, with the strength God gives us we
can get them done. All we need to remember is to do them lovingly and
joyfully one day, one choice, and one shovel at a time. God asks for
nothing more and we should give nothing less.

Touching Stories
From the very beginning, the girl's family objected strongly on her dating this
guy. Saying that it has got to do with family background & that the girl will
have to suffer for the rest of her life if she were to be with him.
Due to family's pressure, the couple quarrel very often. Though the girl love the
guy deeply, but she always ask him: "How deep is your love for me?"
As the guy is not good with his words, this often causes the girl to be very upset.
With that & the family's pressure, the girl often vents her anger on him. As
for him, he only endures it in silence.
After a couple of years, the guy finally graduated & decided to further his
studies in overseas. Before leaving, he proposed to the girl: "I'm not very good
with words. But all I know is that I love you. If you allow me, I will take care of
you for the rest of my life. As for your family, I'll try my best to talk them round.
Will you marry me?"
The girl agreed, & with the guy's determination, the family finally gave in
& agreed to let them get married. So before he leaves, they got engaged.
The girl went out to the working society, whereas the guy was overseas,
continuing his studies. They sent their love through emails & phone calls.
Though it's hard, but both never thought of giving up.
One day, while the girl was on her way to work, she was knocked down by a car
that lost control. When she woke up, she saw her parents beside her bed. She
realized that she was badly injured. Seeing her mum crying, she wanted to
comfort her. But she realized that all that could come out of her mouth was just a
sigh. She has lost her voice.
The doctor says that the impact on her brain has caused her to lose her voice.
Listening to her parents' comfort, but with nothing coming out from her, she
broke down.
During the stay in hospital, besides silence cry, it's still just silence cry that
companied her. Upon reaching home, everything seems to be the same. Except for
the ringing tone of the phone. Which pierced into her heart every time it rang. She
does not wish to let the guy know. & not wanting to be a burden to him, she
wrote a letter to him saying that she does not wish to wait any longer.
With that, she sent the ring back to him. In return, the guy sent millions &
millions of reply, and countless of phone calls,.. all the girl could do, besides
crying, is still crying.
The parents decided to move away, hoping that she could eventually forget
everything & be happy. With a new environment, the girl learnt sign
language & started a new life. Telling herself everyday that she must forget
the guy. One day, her friend came & told her that he's back. She asked her
friend not to let him know what happened to her. Since then, there wasn't
anymore news of him.
A year has passed & her friend came with an envelope, containing an
invitation card for the guy's wedding. The girl was shattered. When she opened
the letter, she saw her name in it instead.
When she was about to ask her friend what's going on, she saw the guy standing
in front of her. He used sign language telling her "I've spent a year's time to learn
sign language. Just to let you know that I've not forgotten our promise. Let me
have the chance to be your voice. I Love You. With that, he slipped the ring back
into her finger. The girl finally smiled.
This is great, take a moment to read it, it will make your day!
A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything
in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and
admire the great works of art.
When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very
courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was
notified and grieved deeply for his only son.
About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door. A
young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands.
He said, 'Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his
life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet
struck him in the heart and he died instantly. He often talked about you, and your
love for art.' The young man held out this package. 'I know this isn't much. I'm not
really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this.'
The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by the young
man. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his
son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled
up with tears. He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the picture.
'Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift.'
The father hung the portrait over his mantle. Every time visitors came to his home
he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other
great works he had collected.
The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction of his paintings Many
influential people gathered, excited over seeing the great paintings and having an
opportunity to purchase one for their collection.
On the platform sat the painting of the son The auctioneer pounded his gavel. 'We will
start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who will bid for this picture?'
Then a voice in the back of the room shouted, 'We want to see the famous paintings. Skip
this one.'
But the auctioneer persisted. 'Will somebody bid for this painting. Who will start the
bidding? $100, $200?'
Another voice angrily. 'We didn't come to see this painting. We came to see the Van
Gogh's, the Rembrandt's. Get on with the real bids!'
But still the auctioneer continued. 'The son! The son! Who'll take the son?'
Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the longtime gardener of the
man and his son. 'I'll give $10 for the painting.' Being a poor man, it was all he could
afford.
The crowd was becoming angry. They didn't want the picture of the son.
The auctioneer pounded the gavel. 'Going once, twice, SOLD for $10!'
A man sitting on the second row shouted, 'Now let's get on with the collection!'
The auctioneer laid down his gavel. 'I'm sorry, the auction is over.'
'I am sorry. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in
the will. I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of
the son would be auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate,
including the paintings.
God gave His son 2,000 years ago to die on the cross. Much like the auctioneer, His
message today is: 'The son, the son, who'll take the son?'
FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, WHO
SO EVER BELIEVETH, SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE...THAT'S LOVE
Do whatever you like, but remember that maybe 'one' of the people you might have taken
the time to send this to, may be just the person who needs to hear this message. You have
a choice to make.'
My mom only had one eye. I hated her, she was such an embarrassment. My mom ran a
small shop at a flea market. She collected little weeds and such to sell, anything for the
money we needed she was such an embarrassment. There was this one day during
elementary school. I remember that it was field day, and my mom came. I was so
embarrassed. How could she do this to me? I threw her a hateful look and ran out. The
next day at school..."Your mom only has one eye?!" and they taunted me.
I wished that my mom would just disappear from this world so I said to my mom, "Mom,
why don't you have the other eye?! You're only going to make me a laughingstock. Why
don't you just die?" My mom did not respond. I guess I felt a little bad, but at the same
time, it felt good to think that I had said what I'd wanted to say all this time.
Maybe it was because my mom hadn't punished me, but I didn't think that I had hurt her
feelings very badly.
That night...I woke up, and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. My mom was
crying there, so quietly, as if she was afraid that she might wake me. I took a look at her,
and then turned away. Because of the thing I had said to her earlier, there was something
pinching at me in the corner of my heart. Even so, I hated my mother who was crying out
of her one eye. So I told myself that I would grow up and become successful, because I
hated my one-eyed mom and our desperate poverty.
Then I studied really hard. I left my mother and came to Seoul and studied, and got
accepted in the Seoul University with all the confidence I had. Then, I got married. I
bought a house of my own. Then I had kids, too. Now I'm living happily as a successful
man. I like it here because it's a place that doesn't remind me of my mom.
This happiness was getting bigger and bigger, when someone unexpected came to see me
"What?! Who's this?!"... It was my mother...Still with her one eye. It felt as if the whole
sky was falling apart on me. My little girl ran away, scared of my mom's eye.
And I asked her, "Who are you? I don't know you!!!" as if I tried to make that real. I
screamed at her "How dare you come to my house and scare my daughter! Get out here
now!" And to this, my mother quietly answered, "oh, I'm so sorry. I may have gotten the
wrong address," and she disappeared. Thank good ness... she doesn't recognize me. I was
quite relieved. I told myself that I wasn't going to care, or think about this for the rest of
my life.
Then a wave of relief came upon me... one day, a letter regarding a school reunion came
to my house. I lied to my wife saying that I was going on a business trip. After the
reunion, I went down to the old shack, that I used to call a house...just out of curiosity
there, I found my mother fallen on the cold ground. But I did not shed a single tear. She
had a piece of paper in her hand.... it was a letter to me.
She wrote...
My Son,
I think my life has been long enough now. And... I won't visit Seoul anymore... but would
it be too much to ask if I wanted you to come visit me once in a while? I miss you so
much. And I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I decided
not to go to the school.... For you... I'm sorry that I only have one eye, and I was an
embarrassment for you.
You see, when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a
mother, I couldn't stand watching you having to grow up with only one eye... so I gave
you mine... I was so proud of my son that was seeing a whole new world for me, in my
place, with that eye. I was never upset at you for anything you did. The couple times that
you were angry with me. I thought to myself, 'it's because he loves me.' I miss the times
when you were still young around me.
I miss you so much. I love you. You mean the world to me. My world shattered! Then I
cried for the person who lived for me. My Mother.
QUESTIONS :
1. What were the five words ?
2. What is the implication of this story?
ANSWER :
The husband just said "I am with you Darling"
The husband's totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior. The child is dead.. He
can never be brought back to life. There is no point in finding fault with the mother.
Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened.
No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment
was consolation and sympathy from the husband. That is what he gave her.
If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer
problems in the world. " A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Take
off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness, and fears. And you will find
things are actually not as difficult as you think..
This story is really worth reading. ...... Sometimes we spend time in asking who is
responsible or whom to blame, whether in a relationship, in a job or with the people we
know.
A
young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going
a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from
between parked cars and slowed down
when
he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared . Instead, a
brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the
Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver
then
jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against
a
parked car shouting, 'What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are
you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money.
Why did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic. 'Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but
I didn't know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the brick because no one else would
stop...' With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot
just around a parked car. 'It's my brother, 'he said. 'He rolled off the curb and fell out of
his wheelchair and I can't li! ft him up.'
Now
sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, 'Would you please help me get him back
into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me.'
Moved
beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He
hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen
handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything
was going to be okay. 'Thank you and may God bless you,' the grateful child told the
stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy! push his wheelchair-
bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.
It
was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the
driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind
him of this message: 'Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at
you to get your attention!' God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts.
Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our
choice to listen or not.
Thought
for the Day:
If
God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
If
He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.
He
sends you flowers every spring.
He
sends you a sunrise every morning Face it, friend - He is crazy about you!
Send
this to every 'beautiful person' you wish to bless.
God
didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without
rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears,
and light for the way.
