CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

This chapter consist of conclusion for all the analysis of “Liberal

Feminism Values of The Main Character in Suffragette Movie by Sarah Gavron”

and also the suggestion for the readers.

4.1. Conclusion

Feminism is a theory that men and women should be equal politically,

economically, and socially. Feminism is a movement that brings differences

towards the way people think and act. Feminism is a movement that has several

branches all with the same focus on women’s equality. One of the branches of

feminism is liberal feminism. Liberal feminism is a feminist’s movement that

focuses on the freedom for women. The freedom for women focuses on the

equality between men and women.

In Suffragette movie, the writer conclude that to find liberal feminism

values in Maud’s character, this paper uses the theory of liberal feminism by

Rosemarie Tong. The writer got several data related to characteristics of Liberal

Feminism on the main character in Suffragette movie directed by Sarah Gavron,

refering in previous analysis the writer find three characteristics of Liberal

Feminism.in Maud’s character, the first characteristics is struggle to get equality

in education which supported by three data, second is struggle to get equality in

economy and political right which supported by three data, and the last is struggle

to make organization which supported by three data.

After knowing the characteristics of Liberal Feminism, the writer tries to find the

survive of the main character in the middle of Liberal Feminism, based some

experts the writer gets several data about how can main character survive in the

middle of Liberal Feminism. First, the writer concludes that the suffragette group

strengthen each other which supported by one data. Second the writer also

concludes that Maud’s character is described as a stubborn woman which

supported by one data.

4.2. Suggestions

Based on the analysis and discussion about Liberal Feminism Values of

The Main Character in Suffragette Movie, the writer has a few suggestions for

other researchers that want to analyze movie: First, when analyzing characters in a

movie, the students in general should have basic knowledge about movie and for

researchers, analysis should be conducted presicely by watching it several times,

collecting data from internet and other refferences. Second, researchers may find

out other aspects of characters roles, such as the personality of character, and etc.

In this paper the writer uses the liberal feminism theory in analyzing

Suffragette movie. The writer suggest to the next researchers to analyze more than

this paper, and the researchers should be able to improve this paper to find out all

the types of feminism with using this theory.
