Education Struggles of Every Student

To my purposive communication Professor Kevin Ray Abesamis, to my fellow students, Good morning everyone,
it's my pleasure to stand here infront of you. Before I commence, I just want to ask you a questions, "Have you ever
felt anxious?" "Have you ever felt depressed?" "Have you ever felt being a failure?" "Have you ever felt stupid?"
"Did you? Or do you attempts to give up?". You have smartphones, right ? "University makes me..." If you Google
that right now, you know the common answer for that ? Anxious, depressed, stupid, feel like a failure, giving up.
Why is that ? Is it because our education system is outdated? Is it because the learning methods ? Or is it because the
university itself ? Every time I woke up in the morning, I just felt anxious and restless, because its another stressful
day. There's this one thing that I don't feel like to understand, the minor subject turns out to be the major one, do
you, my fellow students feel me, yes ? Yes. Did you feel the same way of being penniless because of every single
day of photo copies and hand outs, yes? Yes. Do you still feels like a high school student because your instructor
required the entire class to submit 1/4 illustration board, yes? Yes. Do you felt irritated and wrath because your
instructor announced late that your laboratory the next day were cancelled when in fact you already bought the
ingredients needed, yes? Yes. Do you ever get tired in researching 190 recipes then afterward it turns 90 recipes
only, yes? Yes. Maybe the instructor realized that is too much. Have you ever felt confused, because the professor
just read the power point and that’s it, no explanations, no examples, just read. I was like "oh that's it? What kind of
discussion is that?".

University makes me feel small. This university degrading us, is it because I taking up Hospitality Management ?
The students, professors in this university sees BSHM as trash who not so good enough in academic. Yes, lot of
students out there pursue engineering, accountancy, biology, maybe you have that kind of intelligence but that
intelligence were nothing if you are looking down to your fellows. University means unity right ? But why does it
feel the otherwise? University should feel like a second home, but no, for us, it feels like hell. Its killing us, sleepless
night, with paper works, reviewing for tomorrow's quizzes, it was like 3 in 1 coffee, three reports, three quizzes in
one day.

Today, at college, we spend more time in books than in our family. We are forcefully focus in academics more than
in mental health. We focus on intelligence more than in attitude. We focus on the difficult that could actually not
undergo the basic.

As Albert Einstein said, "The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education", and I think its about
time to change that. We are going to school to acquire knowledge, to learn on our own, everyone learns differently,
there is no two person the same neither in education, yet we teach and test everyone as if they're exactly the same.
Not in the university where you can find the true exam, but life is the most difficult, its a process, it is a long way
learning process. You can learn one by one every single day. Learn, because learning has no limitation. You reach
the summit of success, step by step, slowly but surely.

Well known Albert Einstein said "Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it
will live its whole life believing that it is stupid". We all want to be unique, we are unique. Start making your
unique education, and I am sure its never be easier. So, start realizing your path, do not copy anyone else's test
paper. Make your own, follow your own path to reach your final destination.

My fellow students, we were just freshmen, I know there still a remaining couple of years to reach our goal.
Countless of sleepless nights to spend to finish our responsibility as a student. We're just starting the journey, so
whatever struggles and challenges may come in our way, don't compromise because of that. Instead, retain our stand
like a steel, make a dream come to life, and we are all together in every step all the way.

Thank you.
