Learning Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:

 Decipher the statements of the Fox in the story.


 Perceive the importance of nurturing relationships.
 Construct their interpretation of the reading selection.

II. Subject Matter:

 Topic: Nurturing Relationships: An excerpt from “The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-
Exupery
 Reference: English For Today’s World
 Author: Cecilia A. Suarez
 Pages: 52-56
 Materials: Textbook and Visual Aids.

III. Procedure:

A. Introduction:

- The teacher will discuss first about relationships by asking the students how they
nurture one.

B. Pre-Reading:

- The teacher will first ask the students if they are familiar with the noble, “The Little
Prince” and briefly discuss what the noble is about.
- The teacher will assign a group of students who will read the lines of the Fox and
who will read the lines of the Little Prince.

C. Reading:

- The students will stand in front, divided into two groups. One who will read the lines
of the fox, and the others who will read the lines of the Little Prince.
- Every now and then, the teacher will stop them from reading and post questions so
that the students will not get lost in the story.
D. Post-Reading

- Let the students sit on their proper seats first.


- Ask them about the values they have gotten from the story.
- Have them reflect on the last lines of the Fox.

IV. Evaluation

Answer the following questions:

 How did the fox treat the Little Prince upon their first meeting?
 What is your understanding about their “taming rites”. Why was this necessary for the
Fox?
 Why was the Fox very happy on Thursdays
 What made the Fox very sad in the end?
 What realization did the Little Prince have about his rose? How did the Little Prince
tame his rose?

V. Assignment:

 Answer Word Power Activity 2 on page 56
