PRESS NOTE

In the last 10 days, the city has witnessed heavy rainfall and as such more than 180 complaints
have been received and addressed by DRF in coordination with the Traffic Police Department, Electrical
Department and various wings of GHMC. For the last 10 days DRF teams are working relentlessly round
the clock in three shifts to clear the fallen trees, stagnated flood water from apartment cellars, houses,
roads, bylanes, etc. Also the DRF teams are assisting the Revenue Department in distribution of safety
and relief items to bring normalcy in various inundated areas. The rescue and relief operations are still in
progress in various areas of GHMC.

The DRF force is continuously tracking the Meteorology Department weather forecast and Central
Water Commission report and is acting accordingly. The DRF teams at field are constantly coordinating
with the local leaders to render all possible assistance to the public. Despite the difficulty in reaching the
submerged areas, the DRF teams manage to rescue all the people stranded and provide primary medical
treatment duly following the COVID-19 guidelines with utmost professionalism. The DRF teams are
doing their best efforts to ensure zero casualties and minimum damage to life and property.

DRF teams are working hand in hand with the Traffic Police, GHMC Engineering & Sanitation
teams in clearing the traffic jams, road obstructions such as tree falls, water stagnation, moving the
breakdown vehicles to a safer place and rescuing people who got struck in the inundated areas. Below are

The DRF teams are attending the complaints in other areas apart from GHMC, based on the
availability of the DRF teams and the complaints received. Recently, DRF teams with 25 members were
deployed at Siricilla Municipality for Monsoon Rescue operations.
Incharge officers are appointed to supervise all the complainants attended by the DRF Teams. A
dedicated Control Room established under the Directorate of EV&DM works round the clock with robust
communication system and is closely monitoring the situation at field.

Every exigency related to heavy rainfalls/floods is being attended by the DRF teams with a sense
of emergency in the quickest possible time. All supervising officers along with the DRF teams are on
high alert to attend any disaster or emergency. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel for the
