PHYSICAL EDUCATION TASK #1

Moses Angelo Bagas (11 – DARAG)

1. Differentiate between EXERCISE, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, and FITNESS.

 EXERCISE – is physical activity that is planned, structured, and repetitive for the
purpose of conditioning the body. Exercise consists of cardiovascular conditioning,
strength and resistance training, and flexibility. Exercise is also known as physical
activity. In simple terms exercise is any movement that works your body at a greater
intensity than your usual level of daily activity. Exercise raises your heart rate and works
your muscles and is most commonly undertaken to achieve the aim of physical fitness.

 PHYSICAL ACTIVITY – can be characterized as any development of the body that

requires energy expenditure. This incorporates any movement you are doing through the
day barring sitting still or lying down. For example, strolling, taking the stairs, cutting the
grass, and indeed cleaning your house can be considered physical action. Physical
activities encompass all activities, at any intensity, performed during any time of day and
night. It can be at any intensity, from a simple twitch of a muscle, to an all-out sprint.

 FITNESS − it is when someone is active, feels energized, has glowing skin, doesn’t feel
any fatigue, and has a positive outlook in life, he is fit. This is what fitness is, it’s about
being healthy in both physical and mental. Fitness can be described as a condition that
helps us look, feel and do our best. That means being able to rely on your body to
perform when you need it to, whether it be doing daily household tasks, enjoying a brisk
walk on a beautiful fall day, running a race or bench pressing your own body weight.
Only you can set your fitness goals.
