 Rosenstocks Business Directory:

This entire directory was compiled by C.W. Rosenstock, who co-founded the Manila
Bulletin. It contains the directory for banks, clubs, churches, hospitals, and the like.
Judging from the dates, most of these seem to be from the 1900’s. The printed copy
was later acquired by NLP, but not the complete set of publications. In 1995, they
were eventually microsized in 16mm film.

           Pasco, Ruendelle Kate T.

 a lot of alphabetical lists of business enterprises and foreign inhabitants, as well as a

directory of the insular, municipal, and naval authorities.
 I noticed the table of Public Conveyances-Tariff. The time is indicated there and how
many people the horse carriages can carry.
 The collection includes a complete official directory of government bureaus, postal
information, provincial and city governments, street directories, schools, Philippine
politics and government, and other related information, as well as classified business
listings in Metro Manila.

 The Business Directory of Rosenstock contains a list of names of people who made
a difference in our country especially when it comes to business. It includes both
alphabetical and classified company listings aside from that there are also names of
schools, government officials, postal information, politics and other information. It also
has a name of establishments and the people who were part of its success; some of
it has the total accumulation of their earnings or capital.
 As the Philippines entered the international market It seems that the commercial
economy grew and with that growth came urbanization that envelope areas far
outside the capital which is Manila.

of the source.

Rosenstock's Business Directory was a collection of miscellaneous information

including banks, clubs, churches, religious societies, hospitals and charities, cemeteries,
benefit and secret societies, places of interest, newspapers and publications, public
conveyances tariff, and US government ferry. It was compiled by C.W. Rosenstock , who
co-founded the Manila Bulletin. It also contains details about coastwise ports where a
list of cities were arranged alphabetically. Beside each city are the names of their
islands while in the third column are the dates that were bound to open that time and
available for cruising soon. There is one city that caught our attention—the city of San
Fernando on the island of Ticao. Its date of opening was vastly distant for 619 years
from the others. It seems like there is a mistake when encoding the date. There is a
possibility that instead of January 7, 1290, it is January 7, 1902 since the years only
differ for 1-7 years.

The miscellaneous contains lists of names of people who made a difference in

our country especially when it comes to business. As the Philippines entered the
international market, it seems that the commercial economy grew and with that growth,
urbanization came to envelope areas far outside the capital which is Manila. If not
Filipino, American and Spanish folks were employees in the Philippines at that moment.
There were also various establishments owned by the Americans and Spaniards in
which we think due to colonization. Inside the information of 'Banks,' tons of money
were paid up for capital from international countries. The longest list in the
miscellaneous are the 'Benefit and Secret Societies' and 'Newspapers and Publications.'
In the table of Public Conveyances-Tariff, there are two languages that were used,
English and Spanish. The time, number of horses and people were strictly followed.
