ABSTRACT
This experimental research was conducted to determine the level of effectiveness of Gliricidia sepium (Madre de cacao) leave extract as larvicidal agent against Musca domestica
(Housefly) larvae based on population mean of larvae hatched. It further looked into whether there is no significant differen ce in the level of effectiveness of Madre de cacao leaf extract as larvicide
at different concentrations. Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was employed using 18 samples arranged in 3 replicates, and were treated with six (6) treatment formulation of Gliricidia
sepium leaf extract and distilled water which are as follow; 100%: 0%, 75%:25%, 50%:50%, 25%:75%, 100% distilled water and iodized salt. Results have shown treatment 6 (pure extract) is with
lowest population means larvae hatched with 25, seconded by 75% preparation with 33 larvae hatched, followed by 50% and 25% p reparations, respectively. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) re-
vealed that there is no significant difference in the different concentrations of Gliricidia sepium (Madre de cacao) at 0.677 when .05 level of significance because the property of different treatment
is very poor since its capacity to inhibit larvae reproduction in housefly is comparative with distilled water and iodized sa lt. In conclusion, the different treatment of Gliricidia sepium (Madre de
cacao) leaf extract serves poor potential for larvicidal activity against Musca domestica (Housefly) larvae.
