ACTIVITY 4
a. Why search and seizure is important?
Answer: It is important because it protect people's right to privacy and freedom from
unreasonable intrusions by the government. Search and seizure is a necessary
exercise in the ongoing pursuit of criminals. Searches and seizures are used to produce
evidence for the prosecution of alleged crime.
b. Explain further the term" fruit of the poisonous tree".
Answer: A doctrine that extends the exclusionary rule to make evidence inadmissible in
court if it was derived from evidence that was illegally obtained. As the metaphor
suggests, if the evidential “tree” is tainted, so is its “fruit.”

ACTIVITY 5
a. How raid is conducted?
Answer: The polices are allowed to enter a home and search it to either arrest a
person, seize items in connection with an offence, or both. The police can enter and
search your home: With your consent. After the arrest of you or someone else linked to
your property. It can be an unexpected visit by police or other law-enforcement officers,
often in the early morning or late at night, with the aim of using the element of surprise
in an attempt to arrest suspects believed to be likely to hide evidence, resist arrest, be
politically sensitive, or simply be elsewhere.
b. Select at least 2 "S" in four (4) "S" in raid operations and explain each in
your own word/ opinion.
Answer: Strength – we can do everything if we have strong, we can embrace all the
fear and confidence will build up. With strength, we can do anything and all the
impossible will be possible through our determination and the strength we have.
Simplicity – it allows us to see the reality of the situation more easily. We can
communicate with each other if the simplicity is there because it is easy to communicate
with everything through our simplicity. Simplicity is not a sacrifice. Living with less is not
a project in suffering, but instead a way to discover what is most important especially
when doing our operations.
ACTIVITY 6
a. What is the purpose of hot pursuit operations?
Answer: he purpose of preventing the escape or effecting the arrest of any person who
is suspected of committing, or having committed, a misdemeanor or felony. Hot pursuit
recognizes the right of a coastal state to pursue onto the high seas a foreign vessel that
violated its laws while within its waters
b. How it is conducted?
Answer: It can be conducted when the police are pursuing a suspected felon into private
premises or have probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed on private
premises. The Court has recognized two specific conditions that justify warrantless
searches under the rule of hot pursuit: the need to circumvent the destruction of
evidence, and the need to prevent the loss of life or serious injury.

Explain the difference of raid operations to hot pursuit operations.
Answer: Raid operations is a visit by the police, immigration officers or other officials
often in the early morning, hoping to use the element of surprise to arrest targets that
they think may hide evidence, resist arrest, be politically sensitive, or simply be
elsewhere during the day. While the hot pursuit operations provides that the police may
enter the premises where they suspect a crime has been committed without a warrant
when delay would endanger their lives or the lives of others and lead to the escape of
the alleged perpetrator.
