REFLECTION
I. Visit your questionnaire and answer the following.
1. What 21st century skills are you still lacking at? Explain your answer.
Critical thinking, supporting to develop criteria for success for their design projects and
using these to evaluate and improve the designs and solutions they develop are some
of the 21st century skills that I lack.
2. What are the ways that you are doing for you to acquire the 21 st century skills?
I set up personal learning plans that I think can empower me to seek out upskilling
opportunities and set concrete learning goals are some of the ways that I do in the
process of acquiring 21st century skills.
3. What are the advantages if you are fully equipped with 21 st century skills?
Success in the 21st century requires knowing how to learn. Students today will likely
have several careers in their lifetime. They got the chance to develop strong critical
thinking and interpersonal communication skills in order to be successful in an
increasingly fluid, interconnected, and complex world. Technology allows them 24/7
access to information, constant social interaction, and easily created and shared digital
content. In this setting, educators can leverage technology to create an engaging and
personalized environment to meet the emerging educational needs of this generation.
No longer does learning have to be one-size-fits-all or confined to the classroom. The
opportunities afforded by technology should be used to re-imagine 21st-century
education, focusing on preparing students to be learners for life.
4. How will you use the 21st century skills to your teaching-learning process?
I will use the 21st century skills in my teaching-learning process by letting the students
lead the learning because I believe that learning takes place best in environments where
students feel empowered to learn. Effective teachers are more like moderators, offering
inspiration and guiding students to discover for themselves. It is important to give the
students the opportunity to become self-learners, which guarantees lifelong learning.

ASSESSMENT TASKS
Present here a teacher/instructor that you look-up and has been equipped of 21 st century skills.
Write his/her accomplishments and strategies that made him/her accomplish such feat.
A teacher reflects on our changing society and how change informs what teaching is like today.
This is Teacher Grace L. Galban, a Grade-6 teacher in Wonderland Adventist Elementary School,
Wao, Lanao del Sur. As a 21st century educator, she adapted the curriculum in her imaginative
ways. With a learner-centered classroom and personalized instruction, her students have access
to any information possible. Students have different personalities, goals, and needs, and offering
personalized instruction is not just possible but desirable. When students are allowed to make
their own choices, they own their learning, increase intrinsic motivation, and put in more effort—an
ideal recipe for better learning outcomes. Today’s students have the latest and greatest tools, yet
the usage in many cases barely goes beyond communicating with family and friends via chat, text,
or calls. Even though students are now viewed as digital natives, many are far from producing any
digital content. They own expensive devices with capabilities to produce blogs, infographics,
books, how-to videos, and tutorials, just to name a few, but in many classes they are still asked to
turn those devices off and work with handouts and worksheets. In order to be able to offer
students choices, having one’s own hands-on experience and expertise will be useful. Since
technology keeps developing, learning a tool once and for all is not an option. The good news is
that new technologies are new for the novice and and experienced teachers alike, so everyone
can jump in at any time. Today’s tools make it possible to learn about other countries and people
firsthand. Of course, textbooks are still sufficient, yet there’s nothing like learning languages,
cultures, and communication skills by actually talking to people from other parts of the world. It’s a
shame that with all the tools available, we still learn about other cultures, people, and events from
4
the media. Teaching students how to use the tools in their hands to visit—at least virtually—any
corner of this planet will hopefully make us more knowledgable and sympathetic.
According to her, She’d learned that different students have different needs when it comes to help
with new vocabulary or questions, so there’s no need to waste time and explain something that
perhaps only one or two students will benefit from. Instead, teaching students to be independent
and know how to find the answers they need makes the class a different environment. She’d seen
positive changes ever since she started viewing students’ devices as useful aids. In fact,
sometimes she even respond by saying, “I don’t know—use Google and tell us all.” What a
difference in their reactions and outcomes!
“Technology allows collaboration between teachers and students. Creating digital resources,
presentations, and projects together with other educators and students will make classroom
activities resemble the real world. Collaboration should go beyond sharing documents via email or
creating PowerPoint presentations. Many great ideas never go beyond a conversation or paper
copy, which is a great loss. Collaboration globally can change our entire experience.” She said.
5 MINUTE NONSTOP WRITING
From the module, I learned that 21st century teacher is a Master of Technology in the Classroom.
Technology in the classroom is moving at a rapid pace and the 21st century teacher moves right
along with it. Classroom technology, whether it’s for lessons, assignments, or grading, can help
students learn better and faster, and help make a teacher’s time more effective. A 21st century
teacher does not have to have a class set of tablets in every child’s hand, or the latest Smart-
board. But they can have a nice balance of educational tools in their classroom. An effective
teacher knows what technology in the classroom can truly help transform their students’
education. They know what the best tools are, and how and when to use them. An effective 21st
century educator must be able to collaborate and work well in a team. Working with others is an
important 21st century skill. A 21st century teacher is able to adapt to whatever comes their way.
Teaching is a career that has pretty much stayed the same over the past few decades The 21st
century teacher looks forward to the future. They are aware of the ever-changing trends in
technology and are in tune of what the future may bring to education. A good 21st century teacher
is aware of the career opportunities that will be in the coming years for their students, and are
always advocating towards forward thinking and planning to ensure all students will not be left
behind. The 21st century teacher is a lifelong learner. They don’t just expect their students to be
lifelong learners, but they too stay current and on top of what’s new in education. Even though
they may still use the same lesson plan from years before, they know how to change it to keep up-
to-date with what is current. A great teacher will not only embrace technology, but be willing to
learn more about it.

APPLICATION
Do the following.
1. Go to a school and ask the principal or school head for the Outstanding School Teacher.
Request for an interview with the teacher. Among others, your interview protocol should
include the characteristics or qualities mentioned in your activity. Write a written report on
the result of your interview.
Teacher Grace L. Galban was the Outstanding School Teacher whom the school head
pointed out. Inside her classroom, audio-visual aids like a TV and a speaker can be found.
During school days, when the pandemic wasn't present yet, she used these things to aid
her teaching so that the students won't get bored with the topics. Now that the pandemic
has broke loose, she uses her laptop and cellphone to conduct a virtual class with her
students. On a scheduled session, she also uses the radio station situated in their school
to broadcast her topic for the day so that those students who got no internet access can
still listen to the discussions.
Despite the situation that all educators are facing right now, Teacher Grace still managed
to find ways so that not a single student of hers will be left behind.
6
REFLECTION
I. Answer the following.
1. Can an outstanding teacher in the neighborhood school whom you have interviewed be
classified as a global teacher? Why? Why not?
Yes, she can be classified as a global teacher because she uses all means that she could find in
order to deliver quality instruction without leaving a single learner behind.
2.Can one be a global teacher without teaching abroad? Write you insights?
Yes, one can be a global teacher without teaching abroad. The qualities of being a global teacher
does not necessarily require one to go abroad for him/her to be labeled as a global teacher.
3.Reflect on the statement: “As a global teacher, act locally but think globally.”
Think globally, act locally” simply means that a teacher has to be equipped with teaching
strategies and techniques that can be of par with the global teaching arena. He /she has to be
open-minded on world issues and events that can be of benefit to hi s/her locale. For example, if a
teacher discovers a new and effective way of teaching grammar from other countries, then he/she
can apply it in his/her class. Sometimes we learn from others to improve ourselves.
However, the teacher should have a good sense on how to differentiate teaching locally from
teaching globally. He/she should keep in mind as well that not all learning scenarios or situations
is the same in every country. He /she can use what he/she has learned or observed from others
but he/she should also modify it according to his/her students’ needs.
ASSESSMENT TASKS
Make a poem about being a global teacher.
Global Teacher
Encourages collaborative learning,
Promotes peace and participates in trainings,
Gives value and respects other people's ideas,
7
That is what a global teacher does.
Establishes commitment to learning,
Participates in accessing information in an effective manner,
Helps learners recognize false information,
All of these are the duties of a global teacher.
5 MINUTE NONSTOP WRITING
From the module 8, I realized that striving to become a global teacher is a lifelong learning. As far
as I know, being a global teacher does not have to stop at the schoolyard gate. Global teacher
also knows that global education, intercultural education, human rights education and global
citizenship education are all intertwined; that global education is a way of approaching everything
we teach and how we teach it. It broadens horizons and encourages exploration. It’s really
important to stress the importance though, of not only learning about the cultures or countries. In
terms of teaching students, global teachers should understand that the best motivation are from
learning and knowledge itself, not just personal gain.
The most important tool to be utilized in global education is through reading because it is a large
role that learners must possess. Teachers have methods as much a matter of how we teach as of
what we teach; it involves a shift from passive to active learning from teacher to student -centered
classes, for language as structure to language for communication about the world, it stimulates
with new approaches such as experiential learning. It leads to trying out of their seats and actively
involved participation.
8
The knowledge, skills and values that a global teacher should possess are the following: should
be sensitive to and knowledgeable in the fields of sustainable development the topic, it goes w/out
saying that he/she should possess information about the current state of the world and also how to
get his/her students involved in international collaborative process. In order to meet that end
he/she must have proper skills such as foreign language skills, proper attitude, an open mindset
and adequate sensitivity. He/she should also exercise self-mastery and cultivation of virtues.
Make a collage of the educational technology that can be used in the
teaching-learning process.
9
APPLICATION
I. Identify the following concepts that you have learned in this lesson.
1. Outputs of discoveries and inventions which are utilized to improve teaching and learning
such as computers and all its software is referred to as, technology.
2. Simulations or exploratory environments which allow actions and investigations right inside
the classroom through computer software is called microworld.
3. The National Geographic is now kept in a database called hypermedia or information
database.
4. A very popular hypertext system labelled as www is referred to as world wide web.
5. Which term is used when student participants are brought to a field trip without physically
bringing them to the site? Electronic field trip.
REFLECTION
Make a reflection in the following situation in your own local school.
1. The level of technology used in the classroom.
I believe that all of the technology we used this semester is something that anyone could
learn easily with some teaching. One piece of technology that I really enjoyed using and
that I think will be especially helpful is the Google Drive forms. These interactive quizzes
offer so many different options for questions and even answers. I think the thing I
10
appreciated the most about the Google Drive forms is that they are so easy to use. As a
teacher I know that is important because that means I could instruct a student to use the
technology and know with confidence that they would know how to do so.
2. The learning outcomes derived from the technology use

4. You overall reflections on technology and innovative teaching
After working with all of these technologies and being in this technology class during this
past semester, I know and understand that technology is not going to slow down and will
constantly evolve. This will become a great thing for teachers who are open and willing to
learn the new technologies and assist their students in learning them as well.

5 MINUTE NONSTOP WRITING
From the module, I learned that Educational Technology enhances teacher's teaching and
student's learning .Through technology, students can demonstrate what they have learned.
Technology makes life easier; it saves time and money. Properly used and integrated technology
will help students acquire the skills they need to survive in a complex, highly technological
knowledge based economy. Technology integration provides students with equitable access to the
knowledge and skills necessary for college and career readiness. It also enhances the relationship
between the teacher and students as there is immediate feedback. In my opinion, technology is
growing rapidly and as such, students must be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to
utilize these various technology efficiently and effectively or else they will be left behind as
technology continues to integrate. Technology also provides an active experience for students.
New technology tools for visualizing and modeling, offer students ways to experiment and observe
phenomenon and to view results in graphic ways that aid in understanding. As an added benefit,
with technology tools and a project learning approach which enable students to use the internet,
students are more likely to stay engaged and on task, reducing behavioral problems in the
classroom. It enhances the way we interact and communicate with each other via varieties of
electronic medias such as internet, televisions, radios, and social medias. These have improved
the way we exchange ideas that can develop our societies.
