TASK: TO LEARN PROCEDURE FOR MANUAL LIFTING WITH ACTUAL WEIGHT.

AIMS: - UNDERSTAND THE CORRECT POSTURE HOW TO LIFE WEIGHT MANUALLY.

REQUIREMETNT FOR PERFORMING THE TASK: -

PRECATUIONS TO BE ONSERVED: -

1. Wear proper PPE


2. Lift weight to according to your strength
3. Lift weight by bending the waist while keeping the legs straight when unloading bend
knees to keep the load down instead of bending the back.
4. If the weight is heavy wedge it from under by a piece of wood.

DRAW/DESCRIBE “FINDINGS” (LEANING OUTCOMES) AS APPLICABLE: -

1. When lifting machine or machinery part remember that the weight distribution may not be
equal
2. If heavy weight is required to be carried to a higher level do it in as many stages as possible
3. when keeping a weight in the floor take care your fingers so as not to get them crushed
4. If a heavy weight is to be carried over a distance take a few stops on the way take small
steps while walking with load.
5. It is dangerous to go up and down on the ladder while object being carried by him obstructs
the vision of the person carrying weight
6. Use trolley or pulley whenever possible.
7. Younger seamen should be assigned to carry out heavy work.
8. Lifting things and something we carry out regularly on ship in proper lifting technique are
the main reason for accident and injury especially caused while lifting heavier loads.
