There are four questions in total. Answer all the question. Assume any reasonable value if not provided. The
figures in the right-hand margin indicate full marks.
1. Compute the normal depth of trapezoidal channel by using bisection method where b = (5.5 + Last [7+3]
digit of your ID) meter, s = 3.5, n = 0.025 and So = 0.0025. Also consider discharge of through the
channel is (Last two digit of your ID) m3/s. Also calculate hydraulic mean depth of the channel.
Note: If your last digit 0 then consider last digit 3. And if your last two digit is 00 then consider last
two digit 33.
2. What is composite channel? A channel consists of some section which is shown in figure below. [2+15]
Compute the total discharge and the mean velocity of flow for the entire section when n = 0.027 for
all section and So = 0.0002. Also compute the numerical values of n, α, β for the entire section.
Assume that α = 1.12 and β = 1.04 for the whole section. Consider A = Y = (Last digit of your ID)
meter; B = (Last two digit of your ID) meter; C = 25 m; D = F = 15 m; E = (Last three digit of
your ID) meter; G = 20 m; H = 15 m; and P = (Last digit of your ID) meter.

3. A trapezoidal channel is to be laid on a side slope of 1 in 1500 and carry a discharge of (Last two [10]
digit of your ID) m3/s. It is to be excavated in earth containing slightly angular course non-

cohesive particles with d50 = 1.5 cm, d75 = ( ) cm and n = 0.03. Determine the
𝟑
section dimensions of the channel. (Required graphs you may use from your book)
Note: If your last digit 0 then consider last digit 4. And if your last two digit is 00 then consider last
two digit 34.
4. Define i) Sequent depth and ii) Efficiency of a jump. Point out three practical application of [3]
hydraulic jump.
