Allah ﷻsent more or less 124,000 Prophets (peace be upon them) to guide humans to the right path of
Laa Ilaaha Illallah (There is no god except Allah )ﷻ. Every Prophet accomplished his mission successfully.
Lucky people were guided & unlucky ones chose to disbelieve. Allah ﷻmentioned some of them in
Quran so that we may learn from their lives for example in Surah 10 Verse 71:
The reason to learn the stories of Prophets (peace be upon them) is to learn the lessons of the reality of
life & existence, to recognize our faults, to mend our ways, to be purified and illuminated. No doubt,
when one is engaged in learning the lives of Prophets and Saints (Awliya), one is blessed with the Mercy
of Allah and the spiritual assistance of those blessed personalities. Learn few basic beliefs about
Prophets before we continue:
A Nabi (prophet) is a pure servant of Allah ﷻwho is sent to the creatures of Allah ﷻ
to guide them, to give the Ahkaam (order to do good & to refrain from wrong ways).
Prophets receive Wahy (revelations) from Allah ﷻthrough and without angels.
Prophets are all male servants of Allah ﷻamong humans, thus, there can be no prophet
among angels, Jinn and female human beings.
Prophets are illuminated human beings (Noori Bashar). They give light to their followers to
purify and illuminate them.
Prophets are Ma’soom. They are immune from all types of sins, bad beliefs, wrong ways, bad
actions, bad qualities, diseases which make human feel disgust, actions which create bad
impression even if these actions are not sins. In brief, Prophets are immune from everything
which is bad even if that thing is not a sin. To the extent that even their lineages are pure and
their speeches are such that they will never make people get a wrong impression.
The character and morality of Prophets are highest than all creatures of Allah ﷻand they
are higher than all creatures in status, including Angels.
Prophets are given ‘Aql-e-Kaamil (total intellect). As their missions are to guide people, Allah
ﷻgave them highest level of intelligence. A non-prophet’s intelligence’s level can not even
reach a Prophet’s intellect’s 100,000 part.
Prophets always remain prophets, they do not cease to be prophets although they have
completed their missions.
Respecting every prophet is obligatory in Islam. Disrespect towards any of them is Kufr
(disbelief).
The levels between prophets vary, some are higher than others and the greatest Prophet of
Allah ﷻis Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
Nabi and Rasool
Rasool is a Prophet who brings a new Shariah. For example Sayyidina Moosa (‘alayhis salaam)
brought Tawrat (Torah), Sayyidina Dawood (‘alayhis salaam) brought Zaboor (Psalms), Sayyidina
‘Isa (‘alayhis salaam) brought Injeel (Bible).
Nabi is a Prophet who implements laws from a previously revealed Book, like, many Prophets
(peace be upon them) implemented the Laws of Prophet Moosa (‘alayhis salaam). Some basic
beliefs:
Note: All previously revealed Books do not exist in their original forms today. The present bible,
torah & psalms are modified & corrupted by evil doers, hence they no more contain the
message which was sent through those Prophets (peace be upon them). The only authentic and
unchanged revealed Book today is the Glorious Quran
Note: All Prophets were muslims, believing in one Allah and their true followers were also
muslims.
Some Prophets have been mentioned in the Quran along with their names and stories for
example: Sayyidina Moosa (‘alayhis salaam)
Some Prophets’ names have been mentioned in the Quran without their stories for example:
Sayyidina Al Yasa’a (‘alayhis salaam) & Sayyidina Zulkifl (‘alayhis salaam)
Some Prophets’ names have not been mentioned in the Quran but their stories have been
narrated for example Sayyidina Izkeel (‘alayhis salaam) & Sayyidina Shameweel (‘alayhis salaam)
Many other Prophets’ names & stories have not been mentioned in the Quran for example:
Sayyidina Danyal (‘alayhis salaam)

Each Prophet was sent to a particular nation and for a particular period of time, for example:
Sayyidina Hud (‘alayhis salaam) was sent to the people of ‘Aad only. Sayyidina Swaalih (‘alayhis
salaam) to the people of Thamud & Sayyidina Yunus (‘alayhis salaam) to the people of Nivine.
But Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺwas sent for all nations, for all creatures and for
all time to come. Allah ﷻsays in Surah 21 Ayat 107:
“And We did not send you (O Dear Prophet Muhammad )ﷺexcept as a Mercy for all worlds”
Under the Tafsir of Surah 1 Verse 1, ‘Allamah Isma’eel Haqqi (May Allah have mercy upon him)
said that Allah ﷻhas created 60,300 worlds. So, Allah ﷻis the Lord of all worlds &
creations and Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺis a Mercy for all worlds & creations!
Arab Continent
The 3 sides of the Arab continent are surrounded by the sea and its fourth side by the river
Furat, which is why it is called Jazeerat ul Arab (Island of the Arabs). The continent is divided into
8 parts: Hijaz, Yemen, Hadramouth, Mohra, Ammaan, Bahrein, Najd & Ihqaaf. Arab continent
was one of the 3 greatest continents at that time besides the African & European continents.
Hijaz
It is the blessed land which Allah chose for Islam to rise and shine upon the whole of creations.
Hijaz includes Makkatul Mukarramah, Madinatul Munawwarah, Badr, Uhud, Khaibar, Fadak,
Hunayn, Taif, Tabuk and many more.
Makkatul Mukarramah
It was previously known as Bakkah. It is the most famous city of Hijaz, with the mountain Abu
Qubais at its east side, the mountain Qu’aiqi’ane at its west side and surrounded by many small
hills and desert. It is the city of birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺand it includes
many sacred places: Ka’aba Shareef, Safa, Marwa, Mina, Muzdalifa, ‘Arafat, Cave of Hira, Cave of
Thawr, Mount Ta’neem etc.
Madinatul Munawwarah
It is situated around 320 km away from Makkatul Mukarramah towards which Holy Prophet
Muhammad ﷺimmigrated for the success of Islam. Madinah was previously known as Yathrib
(meaning: a land where nothing grows & a land of epidemic diseases) and it was shadowed by
diseases & pains. When Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺmigrated to it, its darkness and diseases
disappeared and He ﷺchanged its name to Madinah Twayyibah. Later, due to His Blessed
Presence on that land, Madinah Twayyibah’s dust became cure for diseases as mentioned in
Hadith.
The land of Madinah Twayyibah is giving us an important lesson: As long as you will remain away
from Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, you will be afflicted by pains as was the state of Yathrib and if
you were to be near Him ﷺ, you will be cured of all negativity, rather you will become a cure for
ailing creatures! Such is the state of Awliya (saints), that, even if they are physically distant from
Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, they are always near Him ﷺin loving Him ﷺand in eagerly
following His Sunnah. These Awliya, by the blessings of Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, are helping
and curing ailing creatures.
Madinat ul Munawwarah includes many sacred placed like Rawza Mubarak (Shrine) of Beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Masjid Nabawi, Jannatul Baqi cemetery etc.
This is the period between Prophet ‘Isa (‘alayhis salaam) & Prophet Muhammad ﷺduring which
people had generally gone astray and indulging in all types of sins: worship of statues & natural
objects, alcohol, sorcery, adultery, gambling, murder etc. For a detailed country-wise account,
please refer to Zia-un-Nabi ﷺVol. 1. This age ended upon the arrival of Islam.
