Prophets
WHO WERE PROPHETS?
➢The literal meaning of the word prophet is a person regarded as a teacher or
proclaimer of the will of Allah.
➢In religious terminology, a prophet is an individual who is in contact with the
Divine being i.e Allah and is said to speak on Allah’s behalf, serving as an
intermediary with humanity by delivering Allah’s messages and commands.
➢So, a prophet is actually a messenger who was chosen and sent by Allah for
the guidance of mankind.
WHY WERE PROPHETS SENT?
Prophets were sent to:
➢ invite people to the worship of Allah.
➢ to stop people from committing shirk.
➢To guide humans to the right path.
➢To teach them the morals and values.
➢To obey Allah’s commands.
➢Allah sent around 1,24,000 prophets.
CHARACTERISTICS OF PROPHETS
➢Prophets were humans beings.
➢They were all men.
➢They had families.
➢They were mortal i.e they lived and died.
➢They were sent to different nations/tribes/communities.
➢They preaches in the language of people to whom they were sent.
➢Prophets were good human beings. They were truthful and honest people.
➢They were given scriptures or books of guidance.
➢They never lied, never mistreated anyone.

THE LINE OF PROPHET HOOD
❑Prophet Adam A.S
• The first human being and messenger of Allah, got revelation from Alllah in
the form of scriptures.
• The first human beings and the followers of Prophet Adam A.S were true
believers.
❑Prophet Nuh A.S
• He brought the message of Allah but his people refused to believe him and
were destroyed by the flood.
❑Prophet Ibrahim A.S
• Although he was born in the family of idolators and disbelievers but he
surrendered himself to Allah. From him came a long line of prophets through
his two sons; Prophet Ismail and Prophet Ishaq A.S

PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH)
• The last prophet of Allah.
• Termed as the “Seal of the prophets”.
• His (pbuh)message is universal.
• His (pbuh) prophet hood is eternal.
• The religion and Divine law sent through him is perfect in all aspects.
• The religion he (pbuh) brought is for all human beings of all ages, for all the
countries.
• The Holy Quran was the COMMAND; the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
was an example of the teachings of the Quran.
• The Quran compares his personality to the Sun, while the previous prophets
were like lamps.
