2. HAVE / GET + sth/ sb + V3


HAVE + sb + V-bare
GET + sb + TO-inf.
Ex:
- I will have / get my hair DONE tomorrow.
- I will have the barber DO my hair tomorrow.
- I will get the barber TO DO my hair tomorrow.
- They had their only child kidnapped yesterday.
(→ something bad happens unexpectedly)

3. Use GET + V3 instead of BE + V3 as a passive, usually in informal situations.


- I’ll get paid on Monday.
- My books got damaged when the basement got flooded last year.
- Professor Brown got stuck in traffic.
- Did anyone get injured?
4. Verb with TWO Objects:

I gave him an umbrella.


→ He was given an umbrella.
→ An umbrella was given TO him.

5. Passive with SENSE VERBS:

SEE, WATCH, NOTICE, HEAR, FEEL, SMELL, TASTE

I heard her cry. → She was heard TO CRY.

I heard her crying. → She was heard CRYING.
