Guidelines for History Students Form 4.

3
Greetings Students and Parents of 4.3,

I am Ms. Modeste your History teacher. Hope you have all been safe. In these unprecedented
times we all feel overwhelmed but please know that your teachers are here to support you.

A few guidelines to be adhered to for History class:

 Classes will be live (synchronous) and also work will be posted ( asynchronous)

 Our first few classes will be live classes from next week according to your timetable.

 Notebooks and your text books are MANDATORY

 All slides/ presentations MUST be written as notes, headed up, dated and subject
name in your History notebook (no spiral notebooks since they are not durable
enough for two years).

 If you do not understand anything on posted notes/work, please ask or message me via
ANS Moddle platform or my email mshistorymodeste@gmail.com. If you do see me
on Moodle please feel free to send me a message.

 ALL assignments must be done including chapter readings of texts.****NB

 Coursework marks will be taken for most assignments including a notebook mark. I
can ask you at anytime to send a picture of a note in your notebook to be marked, so
please ensure that slides/ notes are always written up IN YOUR NOTEBOOK as notes.

 Attendance is mandatory. Parents are free to send me a message on ANS Moodle to

indicate your child’s absence.

 Please ensure that once we start the ball a rolling each topic we do WILL have a
relevant chapter in your text. Reading is MANDATORY even if I forget to say Read the
Chapter on what we just covered.

 At occasions I will also post excerpts from other texts for you to summarize. As
History students we cannot simply stick to one text to get the full story. Read widely.

 The internet while it is a treasury of information be careful as History students the

sites you acquire info from. Ensure it is reliable and the authors are reputable. Eg if
you are doing research on the Tainos, a more authentic site would be one from a
museum or run by historians rather than a 9yr old who has uploaded her project
online. We will discuss further.

 Get familiar with the word Plagiarism. It is prohibited.

Looking forward to seeing you next week!
