Reflection 2

The first source is a video titled ‘9 Earth-Like Planets We Can Move On Right Now’.
This video educates us about nine habitable exoplanets. It further states their 'like Earth'
characteristics and also the struggles of living on the planets. The literary devices used in the
video are music and tone. The addition of music helps to grab the audience sense of hearing and
to keep their attention to the video. The tone of the voice within depicts a friendly individual
which appease to an audience of any age group.
The second source is a website titled ‘A Timeline for Humanity's Colonization of Space’.
In today’s world technology is constantly evolving to the point where we can extend it towards
space. This website highlights the future plans/projects for space traveling, including NASA and
private organizations. The literary devices used in the website are realism and logos. Considering
its timeline the realism is strong as the future projects are possible with human technology. The
logos provide the readers with logical reasons and information about the future projects.
The third source is a website titled ‘Human exploration of Mars, explained’. Within our
solar system Mars is considered to be Earth’s brother with similar features. But there is a little
probability that life is found on Mars due to the lack of atmosphere. Followed by curiosity,
NASA wants to launch a mission to Mars in a few decades. Of course, there are obstacles such as
funding. The article later gives a description of how a day will be on the planet. It will take time
and resources to restore Mars to its habitual state. The literary devices used in the website are
rhetorical question and repetition. The website gives the readers rhetorical questions to have
thoughts on the topic. Repetition of certain words captures readers’ eyes and emphasis its
importance.
The fourth source is a video titled ‘Your kids might live on Mars. Here’s how they’ll
survive’. This video speaks how Mars is a potential home for humans. Despite the difference
between Earth and Mars, Stephen Patranek strongly believes with time, interest and investment
we can terraform Mars into Earth. The literary devices used in the video are pathos and imagery.
The spokesperson uses pathos to appeal to his audience for a deeper connection between the two
parties. Imagery helps the audience to visualize what the spokesperson’s visions.

Give examples of the devices.

Reflection 3
This SBA has opened my mind to extraordinary plans. Also my knowledge and
vocabulary has increased during the process of this assignment. My challenges mostly came
from finding the right source with adequate and reliable information. With thoroughly reading
and analysing of many sources, I was able to pick four sources.
The process of writing the oral presentation was nerve-wrecking. My focus was to
summarize the main points of my research into a speech. The presentation was difficult in the
beginning but eventually got less tense along the way. I learnt that I have a strong interest in the
future humans on other planets.
From the information of doing this SBA, I will do further investigation in my research
and educate my mind of the world outside of Earth.
This is limited. Go back through the points I gave. Good so far.
