The five broad domains of personality are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and
neuroticism (OCEAN).

2. How can the family be the social laboratory of a growing child?

A child’s learning and socialization are most influenced by their family since the family is the child’s
primary social group. Ultimately, the family will be responsible for shaping a child and developing their
values, skills socialization and security.

3. What is the role of hereditary and environment in the total personality development of the
individual?

Both heredity and environment have their share in molding the life and personality of the individual.
Heredity is responsible for all the inborn traits, the instincts, emotions, I.Q., reflex action and physical
traits. Environment is responsible for the growth and development of the physical, mental and social
traits
