Rationale for Choosing DPD
● Needing reassurance everytime, seeking a sense of belongingness, fear of
rejection, not being able to say no, experiencing loneliness, these are some of
the things that are relatable with most people.

● Personal motives:We all have someone in our lives who has suffered because
of dependency issues.

● Most of the times it goes undiagnosed as people don't seek help for these
reasons.

● This can be supported through our Pre-survey as well.

Target population
Youth and Adolescent, (dependency on romantic partners, parents, friends, afraid of
being abandoned, problems in decision making.)

Because, if these population have dependency issues they become at great risk to
develop not only Dependent personality disorder but may also have an increased risk
of developing Mood Disorders, Adjustment Disorder, and Anxiety Disorders.

They do not demonstrate appropriate anger with other people because they are
terrified of losing their support. As a result, they remain in psychologically and
physically damaging and abusive relationships.

Prevalence rates are significantly higher in India and Japan, possible because
dependent behaviors is expected and encouraged.
Target Population

Rusbult and Martz (1995) developed a dependence model of commitment in

intimate relationships. This model contends that people become invested in certain
relationships because they believe these relationships provide rewards than
cannot be obtained elsewhere. This framework predicts that when one partner has
a high degree of economic or emotional dependency, that partner will be
particularly unlikely to terminate the relationship. Thus, high levels of either form
of dependency in one partner should be associated with increased risk for abuse.

Cluster C of personality disorders appears to constitute a group at risk to be a victim

of physical abuse perpetrated by the spouses (Loas, 2011).
