I found the “Masubo Baryo Natawhan” by Jun Lomugdang of Culasi Antique to be the most

engaging of all the composo that I have listened to and in comparison, to other composos that use
far more complex Panay native languages, I can follow the story he is trying to tell. Jun played
the guitar quite well, and alongside his composo has a lovely melody and a pleasing voice that
will captivate you to listen more to his song. The plot of his comoso revolves around Jun's
teenage life in the countryside, including how he or others perceive his appearance, his
experiences growing up in a simple rural life where he comes from a big family, and that he
always helps his parents. Jun’s family experiences financial problems just like every normal
family thus his parents occasionally borrow and also, they always make sure to pay it back. And
it broke my heart to listen to one of the lines in his song telling us that when it is recess time at
his school, he just sits and watches other kids eat their bread because he doesn't have the money
to buy snacks. When it is time to go home, he gets used to walking and other kids would hop in
their cars on their way home.

This composition made me appreciate my parent's hard work to provide things for us that we will
not experience the life they had just like Jun through in writing a song, thus I realized how
privileged I am as a student and as a child. Besides, Jun is one of the indigenous people in the
Philippines and Indigenous peoples remain one of the world's poorest, most marginalized, most
disadvantaged groups. They are constantly confronted with concerns like prejudice, poverty, and
violations of human rights. Therefore, this composo will also give awareness to the existence of
indigenous people and, we must appreciate their works too and value them.
