Marketing Content Copywriter (Part-time)

What we’re looking for


Startup Major is looking for a US-based, part-time copywriting superstar. We are in search of a
marketing content writer with outstanding verbal and written communication skills. A successful
candidate for this role has 3+ years of marketing experience writing B2B content, collaborating with
design and agencies, ideally focused on writing content for technology companies. We are looking for
someone able to contribute 15-20 hours a week.

Who we are
Startup Major is a fast-growing marketing resource platform for B2B technology companies. We are a
marketing-as-a-Service (MaaS) company powered by emerging technology that is shifting the paradigm
of how marketing is done by rightsizing it for each team and project, on-demand. Startup Major
assembles ready-to-go, fractional marketing teams consisting of pre-screened freelancers registered on
our platform and delivers them to our customers as ready-to-go teams. Our subject matter marketing
experts are selected for specific, relevant projects based on their skill set, availability and industry
knowledge.

What you will be doing


Projects will include doing research for and writing our weekly blog, email newsletter, creating social
posts from our blog, drafting web copy, writing copy for our customer-facing, downloadable guides,
checklists, PowerPoint presentations, video scripts and any other written initiatives needed to advertise
Startup Major. Your primary role will be to write compelling copy that drives awareness, consideration
and conversion of our prospects. You will be working closely and collaboratively with a project manager,
other writers, interns, and editor and reporting to the founder of Startup Major. Additionally, you will be
working with other members of the team to create white papers and other assets that will serve as lead
magnets on our website. You will have the autonomy to A/B test your proposed copy, but will also be
responsible for the results. You will be evaluated based on conversions.

Who you are


You always keep the customer and market segment you are writing to in mind. Your tone is friendly,
approachable, yet professional and straightforward. You are at ease when putting some technical
concepts and marketing jargon into layman's terms. You follow the latest writing trends and can interpret
technical copy and turn it into persuasive copy concepts.

You are known to construct clear, concise sentences and write error-free content that represents our
brand and converts leads into customers. You are mindful of things like flow, readability and sentence
variety. You are comfortable writing in Chicago style. You understand the basics of Search Engine
Optimization (SEO) and are aware (or don’t mind researching) the best keyword and linking practices
when it comes to social, blog, web and email content.

You know how to create clear, concise CTAs and produce quality short and long-form demand
generation content. You enjoy working with other writers, editors and are comfortable interacting with the
executive leadership team. You have a “tough skin” when providing, getting and incorporating feedback
and making adjustments to your work. You are creative and propose engaging writing topics and are
able to re-purpose video content as newsletter, social posts and other assets as needed.

You are experienced and comfortable collaborating with the design team and able to think outside the
box to solve problems in a remote work environment, utilizing Slack & Zoom.

You are customer-focused and empower them with information and education. You share expertise, but
you do not patronize. You are bold, articulate and can back your statements and opinions with facts. You
lean hard on thought leadership.
