DIET PLAN FOR RHYTHMIC GYMNASTS

There is no fixed diet for Rhythmic gymnasts. Why do coaches always stress on the importance of
the gymnasts keeping the correct weight ? Rhythmic Gymnastics is an impression sport. Secondly,
judges give penalty to heavy jumps and landing in the performance of the gymnasts during
competitions. Most important of all is to prevent injuries. The extra weight is detrimental to the
knees, back and ankles of the gymnasts. What diet is suitable for gymnasts?

Breakfast

Breakfast is the first meal of the day. Avoid noodles and rice.

1. Eggs with baked beans, a slice of bread with fruit juice or milk or
2. Cereal with milk or Milo, a slice of bread with Nutella or peanut butter or jam or
3. Waffle with honey or jam, a cup of Milo or a glass of milk or
4. Scrambled eggs with chicken sausage, a glass of milk or a glass of juice or
5. Pancake with a glass of milk or juice or

Lunch

If gymnasts must have rice just give 2 to 3 spoons maximum.

1. Grilled fish or chicken with vegetables ( broccoli, carrots, asparagus, corn, celery either
steamed, boiled or fried with v little oil ) and a fruit or
2. Steamed fish or chicken with vegetables and a fruit or
3. Baked fish or chicken with vegetables and a fruit or
4. Fish ball soup with tofu, chicken fillet and vegetables and a fruit or
5. 3 – 4 pieces of nuggets with vegetables and a fruit or

Dinner

No rice please.

1. Clear vegetable soup, ( no oil ) steam egg, a piece of chicken. ( not fried ) or
2. A piece of chicken or fish preferably baked or steamed, cut fruits or
3. Yoghurt, cut fruits, milk or juice or
4. Chicken soup, cut fruits , a piece of meat or
5. Chicken salad, cut fruits, a glass of juice or milk or

#Portion should be small

Snacking on biscuits, cakes, chocolates, ice-cream must be controlled. They are young and
growing children. Do not deprive them of anything that they like but it has to be controlled.
Macdonald’s once in a while is alright.

Bread only for breakfast.

Avoid oily food.
