A REVIEW ON THE PHILOSOPHIES OF RECONCEPTUALISM AND RECONSTRUCTIONISM AND
RELATING THEM TO THE APPROACHES OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
This is the second post this afternoon. We continue with our discussion on curriculum development.
Before proceeding, it is important to note that you are expected to post 4 answers under this learning
activity—2 about the valedictorian and 2 about the best fitting approach. You should choose from
these APPROACHES in CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT. These approaches are:
1. Intellectual-Academic Approach
2. Behavioral-Rational Approach
3. Systems-Managerial Approach
4. Humanistic-Aesthetic Approach
5. Eclectic Approach
Watch and listen carefully with deep comprehension this microlecture as ATTACHED below this post,
in which I discussed the first two philosophies of education. This microlecture is helpful in
crystallizing your understanding on Reconceptualism and Reconstructionism as philosophies with the
realms of Education as a discipline. Most importantly, this microlecture would help you realise to
which APPROACH in Curriculum development does each Education Philosophy belong to.
MICROLECTURE CHECKS
For me to know who among in this class is indeed listening to my microlectures, I shall be anticipating
their answers as per my instructions I gave within the microlecture video.

Hello Ma’am Julie, please find below my answers to your overall questions.
Eclectic, as this approach combines and synthesizes concepts from all the other curriculum
development approaches, achieving reconceptualism's main goal - which is holistic development.
Systems-rational approach best aligns with reconstructionism as it's all about motivating and
encouraging the participation of all stakeholders, aligining perfectly with reconstructionist's
wishes to fix society.
