Introduction

The Philippines is one of the countries which suffered from tireless number of deathly earthquakes,
typhoons, volcanic eruptions and man-made or natural disaster. This is to believe that the Philippines
location is along the Pacific Ring of Fire, the typhoon belt which can cause a lot of volcanic eruption and
earthquake. According to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, approximately 80 typhoons develop above
tropical waters, of which 19 enter the Philippines region and six to nine make landfall.

Through the 2013 Super Typhoon Haiyan also known as the Typhoon Yolanda, this kind of experience
really opened our eyes to the dangers and destruction. In order for us Filipinos to be prepared, not only
to survive, but also to flourish in the face of disaster’s reality and to be able to learn our lessons from the
past.

According to Lawren Sinnema, a World Vision Emergency affairs program officer, he said” Working with
communities for preparedness is key because while you can’t entirely reduce risk from disasters, you
can alleviate their effects if you are prepared”
