I. Research Title

Attitude, Knowledge and Practices of the Community of Santa Maria, Bulacan towards

10 Halamang gamot.

II. Introduction and Background of the Study

Introduction

The term herbal products refers to products that contain various plant materials or components,

which could be found in various forms such as powders, capsules, and herbs. The increasing use

of these products has been acknowledged by various studies. The increasing popularity of herbal

medicines has brought about a revival of interest in traditional healing systems. This study aims

to identify factors that can stimulate the uptake of phytotherapy in the Philippines.

Through the program, the DOH identified and approved 10 medicinal plants that can relieve

different types of ailments. The plants were then subjected to intensive information

dissemination campaign. The Department of Health’s Traditional Health Program has been

instrumental in spreading awareness about the various medicinal plants in the Philippines.

Through this program, the public was able to identify the plants that can relieve different kinds

of conditions. This consider will moreover be useful among

healthcare specialists and educates on the successful spread of data on the right utilize of home

grown solutions that incorporate its appropriate sign and utilize and possible toxicities. By

understanding the requirements of utilizing the home

grown solutions will provide the appraisal and finding the information of the comparing masses.


Background of the study

The NIPROMP was the Philippine research agency that carried out the initial studies on the use

of these plants. Some of the most notable examples of these are the Lagundi tablet, Sambong

syrup, Akapulko lotion, and the Ulasimang bato tablet. They are currently being developed into

modern formulations. The National Institute of Natural and Plant Products was established in

1971 to promote the use of indigenous and non-synthetic herbs in the Philippines. Its

predecessors, Sambong and Lagundi, have been acknowledged by the scientific community as

being of commercial success.

III. Research Problems/ Questions

The aim of the study is to, assess the attitude, knowledge, and practices of community of Santa

Maria, Bulacan towards 10 Halamang Gamot.

• What is the practices of the community towards 10 Halamang gamot?

• What are the knowledge you know about the 10 Herbal Medicine that The Department of

health approved?

• What is the the significance of knowing the proper practices of using 10 Halamang

Gamot?

• What are the proper indication of the 10 halamang gamot?

IV. Research Framework


The research was divided into four categories, each of which dealt with a different aspect of

community :

1.) Demographics of participants

2.) Practices of Community of Santa Maria, Bulacan towards 10 Halamang gamot.

3.) Proper Indication and Toxicities of the 10 Halamang Gamot.

4.) The respondents general knowledge on the 10 herbal plants approved by DOH.

5.) The community of Sta. Maria difficulty in adapting the practices of using 10 Halamang

gamot.
These categories that affects difficulty in adapting the practices and knowledge about 10

Herbal Medicine.

V. Research Hypothesis

Ha = The Community of Santa Maria Bulacan have the Knowledge and Practices in 10

Halamang gamot.

Ho = The Community of Santa Maria Bulacan do not have the Knowledge and Practices

in 10 Halamang gamot.

VI. Research Objectives

The objectives of this study were to examine Santa Maria, Bulacan’s Community:

1.) Attitudes, Knowledge and Practices of this Community using 10 Halamang gamot.

2.) Perspective in Herbal medicine

VII. Significance of Research

This study will be a significant undertaking in promoting rational use of herbal medicines among
the Community of Santa Maria, Bulacan.

VIII. Scope and Delimitations

The study will involve will be limited only to the Community of Santa Maria Bulacan.

Due to on going pandemic, the study will be limited to online survey that will be posted

to social media platform Facebook.
