General Instructions:

a) All questions are compulsory.

b) The question paper consists of 32 questions divided into four sections – A, B, C
and D.
c) Section A contains 15 questions of 1 mark each, Section B contains 1 questions
of 2 marks each, Section C contains 3 questions of 4 marks each and Section D
contains 2 questions of 6 marks each.
Use of calculator is not permitted

SECTION – B

1. Find the tangent of angle between the lines whose intercept on the axes are
respectively a, -b and b, -a.
SECTION – C

2. Find three numbers in G.P. whose sum is 13 and the sum of whose squares is
91.
3. Find the equation set of points P such that PA + PB = 10 where A and B are
(4, 0, 0) and (-4, 0, 0) respectively.
4. In the triangle ABC with vertices A (2, 3), B (4, –1) and C (1, 2), find the
equation and length of altitude from the vertex A.

SECTION – D

5. A line is such that its segment between the lines 5x – y + 4 = 0 and 3x + 4y – 4

= 0 is bisected at the point (1, 5). Obtain its equation.
OR
Prove that the length of perpendiculars drawn from the points (√a2 − b 2 , 0)

6. If sum of two numbers is 6 times their geometric mean prove that the numbers
are in the ratio ( 3 + 2√2 ) : ( 3 - 2√2 ).
OR
Find two positive numbers whose difference is 12 and whose A.M. exceeds the
G.M. by 2.
