Time Switches - Selection:
Time switches allow you to intelligently control the timing of your application, whether the
task is repeated daily, modified to your weekly requirements or aligning with your sunrise
and sunset to increase efficiency. The correct choice of time switch is determined by the
application and user preference.
Time Switches can be used to control:
• Lighting
• Heating, cooling and ventilation
• Process equipment
1
• Pool/spa equipment and more
The type of time switch chosen will be determined by the required accuracy of the
application and user preference.
Analogue Digital
The analogue time switches are suited for The digital time switches are suited for
applications that require a simple level of control, applications that require a finer level
typically repeating the same schedule, day in, day of control and events that typically
out. The programming of events is captured by change throughout the week. Through
switching on or off the tappets/switches around the a simple and intuitive user interface
switch. Because of the limited amount of tappets, you can set the time and program
the minimum switching time is 15 minutes and weekly events to a 1 minute resolution.
thus suited for events with approximate scheduling.

step
The time switch function determines whether a daily, weekly or weekly with astro functionality
is required. There are no digital daily time switches, however a digital weekly time switch can be
used for the same purpose.
Daily Time Switch
A daily time switch allows events to be programmed on a 24hour schedule. Assuming the time
switch is in automatic mode, the same timing events will occur 365 days a year.
Weekly Time Switch
A weekly time switch allows events to be programmed on a weekly basis. This allows different
events to be programmed for every day of the week, or more likely weekday’s vs weekends.
Astro Time Switch
An Astro time switch includes weekly time switch functionality with the additional allowance to
align control with sunrise and sunset times by specifying your location. This would typically be
used for energy efficiency measures controlling lighting, heating and cooling.

STEP 3: Select the mounting type:
step
Choose the mounting type that is suitable for your application.
a) DIN rail
b) Panel /flush mount
c) Surface mount
All digital time switches are DIN rail only.
4
STEP 4: Select option for battery backup:
step
Battery backup ensures that the time switch will not lose time if mains supply is lost. Battery
backup is standard on all digital time switches, however is optional on analogue time switches.
This feature is sometimes referred to as a quartz backup or a quartz driven timer.
5
STEP 5: Select the supply voltage:
step
The time switch supply voltage will be determined by what is available where the time switch
is installed. The 230 V AC models have preferred availability, however other voltages are
available.
6
STEP 6: Select the number of outputs/channels:
step
The number of output channels will determine how many outputs can be switched.
On a 2 channel device each channel can have independent programming.
Depending on the time switch, this can be a N/O or C/O contact.
