1. What is local government?


The administration of a specific geographical area is known as local government.
The national government has delegated authority to the local government, which it
exercises. It is in charge of delivering basic and essential services to residents of a given
area. The national government has delegated authority to the local government, which
it exercises. The welfare and liberty of the people, as well as the economic, social, and
rural growth of a community, are promoted by local government.
2. What are the main principles of good government?

Good government principles include responsibility and accountability, legitimacy,


efficiency, inclusivity, cost-effectiveness, adherence to the rule of law, accessibility and
bringing government closer to citizens, and respect for individual liberty.

3. Is there a difference between good government and good governance? Support your
answer with example.

Legitimacy, competency, accountability, respect for human rights, and respect


for the rule of law are all aspects of good government. Good governance, on the other
hand, is about leadership, accountability, and responsible management of public affairs
and resources. In order to have effective governance, there must be excellent
government. For instance, when the government of a country and its governance are
excellent, the trust of the citizens in the government grows, and they will develop a
peaceful relationship. It helps to enhance economic, political, and social development. It
also reduces corruption and mismanagement since trust, openness, and honesty create
an environment where these things are less possible.
