HOW DID THE PANDEMIC AFFECTED YOU?

The COVID- 19 pandemic had a huge impact on us specially on our education
systems. In a period of just few months, the pandemic which caused by a novel
coronavirus has totally transformed the way of living of common people around the
world. It is a big challenge for all of us on how to survive until now.
As a student, I admit that it is not easy for me to adjust especially on the
new normal including the online platform as a new way of learning. And I cant
imagine what has student life looked like during those times, including teaching
and learning, social contacts, as well as how they are coping with the situation
emotionally in different parts of the world. I can say that I am that fortunate to
afford to have the gadgets which has capability to attend our online classes.
Also being an artist helped me a lot to have extra source of income. I use
those money I earned on making commissioned portraits and paintings to help my
parents on buying our daily needs. Recently, I joined the 2020 Lakbay Sining, a
painting contest for all the batangueno artists. Luckily, I won the first place and
the people's choice award. I am so blessed to have this talent which is so helpful
particularly in this kind of situation.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ON THIS SUBJECT?

As a second year architecture student, I literally have no idea on surveying.
But I am expecting to learn all the things what we need to learn in this siubject
even we started our online class late. I want to know what are the things we need
to conduct a survey. What are the purposes and importance of surveying and also
what are the best methods on doing that. And also on how to analyze the data that
we gathered and produce final report of results right. I hope that our lesseons
may also help us as in our work in the future.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST REASON OR INSPIRATION ON TAKING ARCHITECTURE?

Honestly, architecture is not my dream job. And until senior high school days
I am undecided on which course do I want to take. But since I am into arts, I have
the idea that the course I am taking will be BS Architecture or Fine Arts. And also
my track when I was a senior high school student was Arts and Design track and when
you are on that path, you have few and limited choices on what courses only you can
take, mainly art- related courses. One reason I chose BS Architecture is because of
my cousin who is a year older than me is also taking it. And I am encourage by him
at his works and since then I realized that I want to do what he was doing and we
both want to be great architects in the future.
As time goes by, I am falling in love with it even if I did not expect that
this got to be this hard but also I know that there is no shortcuts on achieving
success. I think also that my passion on art had the biggest factor on taking
architecture.

WHAT IS SPECIAL TODAY?

I am not so sure but I think it is the lockdown anniversarry. I heard on the
news the seen also on some facebook posts that it is a year ago since we have the
community quarantine on most parts of the country.
