Dear Applicant,

Congratulations on receiving an offer to study at Swansea University, we look forward to receiving you at the
start of your course. We are confident that your time with us will be both academically and personally rewarding!

In due course, we will contact you to begin the application process for a Confirmation of Acceptance Studies
(CAS) statement. This CAS statement will contain a unique CAS number that you will need in order to apply for
your Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. It is very important that you obtain this CAS number before booking an
appointment to apply for your visa.

CAS statements are valid for a maximum of six months, so the earliest we can release yours to you is six months
before the start date of your course.

You can apply for your Tier 4 visa no more than three months before the start date of your course, however,
there are several steps that you can take now to ensure that we have all of the necessary information ready for
when the time comes to draft your CAS statement.

Steps to take NOW in preparation for your CAS:

1. ACCEPT YOUR OFFER

We will only be able to begin working on your CAS

statement once you have accepted your offer to study
at Swansea University, so we would recommend
responding to this offer as early as possible in
preparation for your CAS.

2. SUBMIT A PREVIOUS STUDY QUESTIONNAIRE

(PSQ)

All international students must complete a

questionnaire to inform us of your intentions to
study at Swansea University and to provide us with
any information relating to previous study in the UK.
If you have studied in the UK previously then you
must also provide a copy of your previous CAS
statement(s) and visa(s) with this form.

Please note, you must complete this even if you have

never visited the UK, as we require this information in
order to draft your CAS statement. You will find a
copy of the PSQ attached to this email.
3. PROVIDE A RECENT ACADEMIC REFERENCE

This is a recent letter of recommendation from a

previous tutor or employer. It should be written on
letter-headed paper, signed and dated by the referee.
If you have submitted a suitable reference during your
initial application then we can use this for your CAS
statement.

4. PAY A COURSE DEPOSIT OF AT LEAST £2,000 OR

PROVIDE US WITH A LETTER CONFIRMING
FINANCIAL SPONSORSHIP

You should fit into one of the categories below which

will determine what you need to do:

Self-funding: If you are a self-funding student then

you will need to pay a minimum deposit of £2000
before we can issue you with a CAS statement. We
recommend making the payment over the web via
the Swansea University intranet but please visit -
'How To Pay Your Fees - International' for full
options and instructions on how to pay the deposit.
Please also see this page for details on how to receive
a discount for full payment of tuition fees.

Sponsored: If your government or employer are

paying for your tuition and/or living expenses then
you will need to provide a letter from them
confirming this sponsorship, in place of the deposit
above. This letter must include details such as your
name, Swansea University as the place of study and
the name of the specific course that you are
undertaking.

US Federal loan: If you are an applicant visiting from

the United States and you are in receipt of a US loan
then this will need to be originated and confirmed
with us before we issue the CAS statement, but you
do not need to pay the £2000 deposit. If this is you,
please contact us for further information.

5. FINALLY, INFORM US OF ANY GAPS IN STUDY

If you have been out of study for the past 18 months or

more then we will also need a copy of your Curriculum
Vitae (CV) detailing your work and education history. If
you do not already have a CV then you can simply
submit to us a brief statement by email explaining any
notable gaps in your education or work history.
Once you have completed all of these steps then your CAS statement is ready to be drafted by our team, who can
issue it to you six months or less before your course start date.

The summer is our peak period and an extremely busy time for us so please be aware that it can take up to 5
working days for a CAS statement to be drafted and issued, but if you complete the steps above ahead of time
then this will reduce the overall waiting time. Please also remember to include your name and student number
in all email correspondence with us to avoid delays.

You can find further guidance on the Swansea University website for Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS),
with information relating to the application for a CAS number and some frequently asked questions.

If you have any queries relating to your Tier 4 visa application then we would recommend that you contact
International@CampusLife, Swansea University’s dedicated team of trained immigration advisors who are here
to support and assist all current and potential international students.

If you have any queries relating to your CAS statement or are ready to submit any of the documents above then
please contact us by email at cas.admissions@swansea.ac.uk, including your full name and student number in
the message.

Kind Regards,
The Admissions Compliance Team
