1) SUICIDE MACHINE

If forcing people to die is wrong, then forcing people to suffer and endure conditions that are
unbearable can also be called wrong. That is where the scuicide machine comes into play.
Suicide might be a big moral issue , but I believe that if certain conditions are met; if a patient
wills it or has the right mind to decide that his/her condition is unbearable for him/her and is
consented by the immediate family, then the use of a suicide machine is acceptable. Of
course suicide should not be tolerated and encourage, because I believe that each person
has the duty to live and fulfill its purpose in life. We should view that the suicide machine is
merely a medical aid/ tool, to help patients with severe conditions and are experiencing
endless pain be lifted off their suffering. Suicide might not be legally wrong but it is morally
unacceptable, a line must be drawn on using a suicide machine. Firstly there should be
requirements or certain conditions to be met to be able to use such a machine and secondly it
should be off limits to the use of the general public.

2) PET CLONING
We can usually hear cloning most of the time from Sci-fi movies, watching the video of Sooam
biotech performing dog cloning gives me the chills of how amazing and how far human
technology has reached. Pet cloning is such a technological breakthrough since it can be
associated with human cloning. Cloning your dead pet is just simply amazing though there are
drawbacks since it is very costly and the behavior of your cloned pet might change due to the
environmental influence. There is one thing that I found disturbing though, pet cloning can
only be done if there are donors of cells and takes a lot of process, and the thing I am most
concerned about is the surrogate mother. I feel pity for the surrogate mother because of the
numerous test trials and operations it needs to undertake just to do the cloning. Now I can see
why human cloning is difficult to actualize because it triggers such dilemma plus if we are to
imagine a woman as a surrogate mother and undergoes such numerous operations , it would
be disturbing and very heartbreaking. But who knows if cloning would advance further, we
might be able to change the phrase “when were you born” to “when were you cloned”.

3) CRYONICS
Freezing a human being in order to cryogenically preserve it sounds very creepy. Though
behind such creepiness is a brilliant idea to treat incurable diseases as of now in hope that the
future medical technology can cure such diseases. I don’t know if the human person inside the
capsule or chamber can last a couple years or a century, but if it can really last and be treated
in the distant future then that would be amazing. We could live indefinitely and be reborn in a
different era if this is actualized. The only problem is it would be expensive to be under such
care. Personally, if there is a way to make my life longer then without a doubt I would take
such privilege. We could even change the concept of “death” into a process of “hibernation”.
Imagine a world where hibernating is possible for humans, just like ants we could extend our
life and our chances of survival in case of pandemic arises. This could be a way to solve the
increasing number of population since we can control when and whom shall be awakened,
though this idea might trigger some ethical dilemmas, but how awesome would it be if
hibernation for human beings is possible through the use of cryonics.

4) NON-LETHAL WEAPONS
The use of non-lethal weapons is very helpful in preventing civilian casualties and promotes
human rights. Enforcing an incident would be more safe and effective since it can lessen
civilian injuries and in custody deaths. Under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte,
extra-judicial killing was one of the biggest controversies in the country. If the subjugation of
drug dealers or “Oplan Tokhang” were carried out through the use of non-lethal weapons
then the in custody death of drug dealers could have been minimized, and specially those
civilians that were falsely accused and wrongly involved could not have suffered injustice
death. Well, I am not saying that non-lethal weapons are more effective than actual weapons
since I am not an expert of tactical warfare, but I am definitely sure that if it were a non-lethal
weapon then the abusive use of firearms by the enforcers could not have taken place.
Injustice death and civilian casualties could have been lessened. Losing someone dear to
you, may they be a convicted criminal or an innocent citizen is very heartbreaking. Isn't it cool
if police enforcers would be able to protect lives instead of taking them away?

5) FRIENDBOT
As of now Friendbot is very limited as to its function and operation, since it relies on the
collective digital information of a person. Though it is somewhat lacking it is very helpful for
therapy and one could be able to chat with a programmed friendbot. How much more if we
can cultivate the consciousness of a person and make it an AI? One could even be able to
leave a version of “yourself” behind. It would be the literal application of leaving your footprints
behind. If such things could really be possible, even if Earth is no longer habitable by humans,
human civilization could still exist through the use of digital platforms. Civilization inside a
digital device,“virtual world”, or a civilization that is run by robot versions of oneself could be
possible. If we let our imaginations run wild, artificially making a digital version of your
consciousness inside an artificial human body means that there is no need for health risks, all
we need is mechanical maintenance. Now that is very “sci-fi”, though it might not be possible
as of now, who knows that this concept of “Friendbot” is just a step towards virtually making a
digital copy of one's consciousness.

6) CITIZEN APP
Safety is everyone’s concern. An application where every citizen is informed through their
smartphones about potential risks and where crime might take place is a step toward having a
safe and risk-free environment. It would be awesome if all countries can afford to provide such
an application, specifically here in the Philippines where crime rate is high, the application
might not stop an incident but it can lessen the involvement of citizens from risky and
dangerous situations. This would be too good to be true for a third world country like the
Philippines. Though no matter how amazing the citizen app may be there are still drawbacks
to it. For example, false accusations and profiling, one could be falsely accused of being a
criminal in the public's eye. It could also potentially create panic and police movement could
be exposed to the criminals. The accuracy of the data and danger levels would be great for
this application’s improvement.
