Liceo U joins Philippine National Health Research System 2019

After undergoing a competitive screening that factored in academic standing in German class
and winning the 2019 APDO Video Making Contest in Manila, Francisco, Moctar and Basher,
together with 3 other German scholars from the Philippines were granted an all-expense paid
trip to Indonesia to participate in the said competition.

Liceo de Cagayan University welcomes the SIMBAHAYAN Community Development Officials

from the University of Santo Thomas during the Learning Exchange Program on June 28, 2019. 
The Vice President for Research, Publication, and Extension (RPE), Dr. Nenita I. Prado, shared a
heart-warming welcome address emphasizing on importance of collaboration between
academic and extension. Dr. Mark Anthony D. Abenir, Director of UST’s SIMBAHAYAN
Development Office, also talked on the history and the victories they had in their development
program. UST-SIMBAHAYAN, also known as, Simbahan, Bahay, Bayan was an organization
created to develop, implement and manage the university’s community development program.

The Philippine Council for Health Research and Development together with Northern Mindanao
Consortium for Health Research and Development (NorMinCoHRD) organized the 13th
Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week on August 13 – 16, 2019. This year’s
theme is, "Achieving Health-Related Sustainable Development Goals through Research and
Innovation."

LICEO DRAGONOIDS Second Place in 2nd Surigao International Dragon Boat Festival

Liceo de Cagayan University- Dragonboat Team, also known as LICEO DRAGONOIDS, garnered
Second Place in the 2nd Surigao International Dragonboat Festival on July 7, 2019 in Surigao
2 Juniors receive Chief Girl Scout Medals

City. The winning team is composed of College and Senior High School students. The
Dragonoids competed against 22 teams: 19 from local and 3 from International teams.

The Liceo Dragonoids is the very first Dragon boat team established in Cagayan de Oro City in
2014. Today, the team continues to bring honor to the university and the city in local and
international competitions. The team is managed by Mr. Carl Simbran and assisted by Mr. Rex
Tagapulot, both full time instructors of the University.

Two senior girl scouts from Liceo U Junior High School Department, Crystal Joy D. Dandasan and
Trisha Ivy J. Maandig were among the 713 dynamic recipients of the Chief Girl Scout Medal last
November 23, 2018 at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC),
CCP Complex, Pasay City.

Liceo de Cagayan University - Conservatory of Music, Theater, and Dance takes

pride of its two composers and faculty members. Prof. Horst-Hans Bäcker's
“Fantasie über Ludwig van Beethoven“ and Mr. Niño Cesar Tiro’s “Phantasie für
Ludwig” piano works, were chosen among all the composers worldwide to be
featured in the 250 Piano Pieces for Beethoven International Composition
Project by Susanne Kessel.

Kessel will record and premiere their works in Bonn, Germany. Her performances will air
internationally, and the recordings will be sold in media outlets. Their compositions will also be
published and distributed worldwide in Vol. 9 of “The 250 Piano Pieces for Beethoven Book
Series.” This project features 250 pieces from 250 composers to commemorate Beethoven's
250th birthday in 2020.

The Conservatory of Music, Theater, and Dance continues to set the bar for offering the
European international standard education in the performing arts in the Philippines.
