THESIS STATEMENT: Technology like internet creates harmonious society

amidst globalization
Can you imagine a life without internet? Can you imagine how hard it is
without internet?
According to Merriam-Websters Dictionary, globalization is the development
of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free
flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets. It allows us to pool
all our resources together and makes communication much more easier than before
that creates harmonious society all over the world. According to Nilson (2010) it also
refers to the process by which different economies and societies become more closely
integrated, and concurrent with increasing worldwide globalization, there has been
much research into its consequences (p.1191). It is necessary and we should willingly
and actively enter into this process. And being said that technology or internet has
been a key factor in driving globalization in recent years and created the possibility
and even the likelihood of a global culture.
Internet has broken down communication barriers between cultures and has
been found to lessen discrimination based on race, gender, social status, and social
similarity and thus improve communication or even open otherwise closed channels.
Now, almost any news service across the globe can be accessed on the Internet and,
with the various translation services available (like Babelfish and Google Translate),
be relatively understandable. Over many centuries, human societies across the globe
have established progressively closer contacts. It really helps us to have easier
communication with our loved ones from miles away. My mother is working abroad
since I was 2 years old and as a concerned son getting updates of her whereabouts is
difficult. At first we struggle a lot because our world is not really globalized in terms
of communication. But then globalization occurs and the communication technology
has brought us together closely and can contact each other effectively and more easier.
We could meet people for meetings face time. Attend rally with many people.
Enjoyed beautiful live performances with such professional standards. And also this
helps us to be more updated with our recent importance news and information. In
addition, smaller countries are now able to cheaply export culture, news,
entertainment, and even propaganda.
“It feels like the internet’s impact on culture is just beginning. A world in
which culture is based on the internet, which is what I think is happening, is just the
very start. Right, ’cause it had to get universal before it could set the culture” (Marc
Andreessen,2020). Our world is becoming a much smaller place. We can quickly
communicate with people who are on the other side of the planet. A person with a
computer and a good idea can create an e-commerce platform which reaches the entire
world. In many ways, we are closer to each other than ever before. The positive
impact of globalization are: it encourages free trade, more trade means the potential
for more jobs, it eliminates currency manipulation, open borders mean more
opportunities to develop poor areas of the world, open borders mean more
opportunities to develop poor areas of the world, it could stop the issue of labor
exploitation, it limits the potential for abuse because there are fewer structures in
place, and we could begin pooling resources to do great things. (Louise Gaille, 2017)
When we think about technology this way, we can come up with more creative
and realistic ways to pursue happiness in a digital world that go beyond decreasing
how much time we spend online. Many jobs can now be outsourced entirely via the
Internet. Communicating with these teams is now as simple as sending e-mails and
instant messages back and forth, and often the most difficult aspect of setting up an
international video conference online is figuring out the time difference. Especially for
electronic services such as software, outsourcing over the Internet has greatly reduced
the cost to develop a professionally coded site. The rise in the use of the internet has
been incredibly instrumental in improving how we connect. It allows us to view
diverse perspectives that were outside of our scope before where we can fully connect
with someone thousands of miles away in real-time, and the effects are profound.
In summary, internet as form of our communication shifted to economic
growth to overall societal balance and creates harmonious society as globalization
takes place.
