*Maintenance & Test Program for Machinery Alarms.

Functional Testing of various machinery Alarms has to be done as per schedule highlighted in the
Excel file attached to the SJ (Note use the same file every month to keep a single file for entire year).

The work order will come due every month and all the Alarms that are highlighted for the particular
month in the excel sheet need to be completed with an “X” confirming that the test point is in order.
If not in order kindly highlight the respective cell as red and record the problem in finding. This Excel
file has to be attached to the work order when the job is completed. The same excel sheet has to be
used till the end of the year marking the alarms tested during each month so that by end of the year
there is a consolidated list of alarms that have been tested.

We have divided the entire alarm list into monthly, 3 monthly, 6 monthly and yearly intervals and
highlighted accordingly for you to mark in relevant columns. The 3 Monthly and 6 monthly alarms
have been distributed in 3 and 6 months so that the alarms are tested in a phased manner every
month.

Please use the below Test Procedure for reference purpose.

1.Pressure

Test Method "PA"

The test of pressure transmitter for analog pressure alarm/monitoring system and the test of
pressure switch for associated alarm (or on/off control system /facilities) to be carried out by using
the pressure calibrator connected to the pressure switch or pressure transmitter.

2.Temperature

Test Method “TR”

The analog temperature monitoring system test such as indication and High/Low alarm setting works
etc. to be carried out by means of the variable Resistor or Potentiometer.

The electric cabling connection works and temperature monitoring facilities in the circuit shall be
confirmed by adjusting the variable resistor or the potentiometer in accordance with the resistance
(or thermo-electric voltage) or temperature comparison table.
In the case of Resistance Bulb, variable resistor to be used but in the case of thermocouple, type
sensor potentiometer shall be used.

Test Method “TS”

The test of temperature switch with its associated alarm or on/off control system to be carried out by
means of the temperature calibrator.

The electric cabling, connection works and the temperature alarm of control facilities in the circuit
shall be confirmed by using a temperature calibrator.

In the case of the temperature sensors has maximum 100 °C of operating range, a water pot shall
normally be used.

3.Level

Test Method “LF”

The test of the float type level switch its associated alarm of on/off control system and facilities in
the circuit to be carried out by means of operating the test lever (Push the test device of level switch)

Test Method “LT”

The test of top monitor type level switch with associated alarm or on/off control system and facilities
in the circuit to be carried out by means of operating the test device of level switch.

If necessary, the test of sensor shall be carried out by means of actual test such as immersion test in
water before its installation on tank.

Test Method “LP”

In case of level indicating system to confirm the operating valve of the pressure sensors for level
measurements and alarms by operating the pressure regulating valve of pneumatic supply line or
given actual pressure by means of hand pump as given on the method “PA” on the previous page.

Others

Test Method “RV”

Actual Test to be carried out for items marked as RV as far as available.

However in the case of actual test is not available practically, remove wire from terminals of detector
or circuit and confirm that the alarm will be activated.

Test Method “PB” - Push the button and confirm that alarm will be activated

Test Method “RE” - Remove Fuse in starter and confirm that alarm will be activated

Test Method “SC” - Put salinity cell in salt water and confirm that alarm will be activated

Test Method “AO” - Actuate over current in starter and confirm that alarm will be activated

Test method “OS” - By means of simulation method increase the engine revolution value up to the
setting value.
