S82K and S82J Power Supplies will be Discontinued

Sept. 30, 2010; Last Order Date is May 31, 2010
The S82K and S82J power supplies have been some
of the best selling units for Omron for many years. S82K
However, with the introduction of new, more cost
effective power supplies sales of these units has
dropped significantly. Parts to build these power
supplies are getting rare and the cost of them keeps
going up. A decision had to be made, re-design or
obsolete the product families. After weighing the cost of
re-designing against projected future sales, it was
determined that obsolescence made the best sense.

Critical Dates
Last Stocking Order Date: May 31, 2010
Discontinued Date: Sept. 30, 2010
Stock Depletion: March 2011 (estimated)

The factory has provided an estimated final S82J

obsolescence date of Sept 30th 2010. Final
obsolescence is dictated more by available material
than an actual date. OEI plans to order enough
products to last through March 2011, based on current
run rates. If orders for the power supplies spike, the
March 2011 date might turn into January or February.
It is very important that distributors with local
customers consider putting inventory on their shelves for these customers. Especially for validated
machines like those found in the pharmaceutical industry or electronics fabrication.
Omron will accept stocking orders through May 2010. After that date orders will be limited MRO
orders only. Omron will place a last time buy with the factory at the beginning of June. This will
include any stock orders and enough product to last until March 2011.

Migration Guides
Attached are migration guides that will help customer’s select reasonable replacements. It should be
noted that there are differences physical size, wiring, and output ratings among other things.
However, in the majority of cases the replacement power supply should function just fine. Click on
