Belgium is the country that resides between France, Germany, and Luxemburg.

This city is known for


being the center of the European Union, an alliance within Europe promoting free trade and economic
movement. It is the center of trade operations of Europe because it is known to be the “De-facto” or
rightfully capital of the continent.

In 2019, Brussels rank as the 10th most exporting country. It has over 163.3% of GDP in foreign trade and
by this they are claimed to be the export champion of raw materials such as petroleum, motor vehicles,
chemicals, textiles and food products. This embarks that Belgium is one of the riches countries in the
world.

In the geographical aspect, the terrains and waterways of Belgium favored much to their growth and
development. It has three main regions: Costal plain, central plateau, and Ardennes uplands. Having a
costal plain indicates that they have seaports. Belgium has four seaports active for transporting and
exporting local products. Central plateau is where the airports are established. Having both of sea and
air ports means so much in importing and exporting goods. Ardennes uplands is where the minerals are
mined and extracted. Analyzing these terrains, our conclusion is that the country is a perfect center of
trade because they have two means of exportation, by sea or by air.

In terms of waterways, Belgium has 54 waterways. In general knowledge, Canals and inland waterways,
natural or artificial waterways are used for navigation, crop irrigation, water supply, or drainage. Many
inland waterways are multipurpose, providing drainage, irrigation, water supply, and generation of
hydroelectric power as well as navigation. This helps the country not only navigating within the country
but also in economic matters as well.

In terms of climate and seasons. Like other countries located far above the equator, Belgium is one of
the many countries that has 4 seasons. This means that product exportation and manufacturing is not
equivalent in each month.
Looking through the chart, September to February entails the lowest goods exported. It due to the rainy
season and winter season in the country and this affects the product raise and manufactured goods and
also the movement of the cargo and planes.

In conclusion, Belgium has developed with the help of its geographical terrains and waterways but their
climate is not beneficial to them.
