Intro: Fossil Hunting
i have always be fascinated by fossils and have researched not through books or computers but with my own eyes, thus I am now happy to share this fun activity with
everyone (note, this is my first instructable, so cut me some slack)

Image Notes
1. fossilized sea creature shell ( 1/2 only)

Step 1: Materials
the fallowing materials are needed:

1. Hands (you should have two)

2.Eyes (you should have two of these too)
3. Pockets ( these are definitely needed if you are going to search for a couple hours)

1. this may look like nothing, but is actually a piece of sand stone with shells incased in it

Step 2: Location
this step is probably the easiest, but maybe even the hardest,location .One of the best places would a local park, as fossils may be mixed up with other rocks/minerals
and used as decorations .other places to check can include anywhere i repeat, anywhere where you can find rocks.also, if there is a lake at the park check places near
the waters edge away from man-made structures where thing have been less disturbed. One of the worst places in my opinion to look is your driveway, as most of the
fossils there are rough and have poor quality. when you find you perfect spot, start hunting

Step 3: Hunting
1. get down on the ground any way you want, as long as it's comfortable
2,grab for anything strange or something that catches your eye
3.store any findings into your pockets
4.share with friends
5. store findings at home in safe place

i hope you enjoy hunting as much as i do. i would like to see any cool fossils you have (living in Michigan as I do, allows me to only find the fossilized remains of ancient
sea creatures and the occasional petrified wood piece or tooth), here are some of my favorites. please comment on what you people think

At the camp i go to it rained for like a week. After the rain i went to the lake shore where i found around 10 arrow heads.(yes i know they're not really fossils
but they're still cool)

fossil hunting actually isnt my hobby im only 13 and ive always been facinated wit dinosaurs mainly in art lke in movies and decorations things like that so im
striving 2 become a paleoartist in the future

i found sometin just like the 2nd pic and took it 2 a paleontoligist but mine had wat looked like the top of a turtles shell and the bottom as one 2 he didnt now
wat it waz also while walking along a shoreline i found some stingray teeth and a piece of a turtle shell 60 million yars old if your looin for other spots check
were the ground is desturbed by cnstruction like were housing devolpements r i found ome stuff on the side of a highway check near redskins stadium cuz
before it waz built like during construction a friend of mine found some prehistoric sea creatures

thanks for the tips! the best fossil I've found is the one above (first pic).My cousin actually found the tip of a talon in a rock with his friend at their school
