ACTIVITY 2: APART BUT NEVER ALONE

On a separate sheet of paper, write your experiences in connecting with people during this
pandemic and the things you learned. Highlight the value of proper communication and right
access to information.

It would be an understatement to say that the novel coronavirus (COVID-

19) pandemic has changed society. It's been more than a year since the virus started
and how it prolonged people's lives all over the world. As social distancing norms have
led to a more virtual existence, both personally and professionally, the Internet has
influenced how we work, learn, and connect.

Maintaining regular human connection is more important than ever as we navigate

these difficult times. I had to say that I’ve been mentally challenged throughout the
pandemic especially with the ‘new normal’ system of education. This flexible learning is
not flexible at all for some students including me who is not privileged enough of time to
study 24/7. It’s no longer about learning, but passing. I felt physically and mentally
drained pursuing online class. But still, I am making it because I have a goal ahead of
me. In addition to that, there are a lot of apps that helped me out to survive online class
such as youtube, photomath, mathway, quora, and many others. Reconnecting with my
friends online has also helped me a lot in bettering my mental health. I had made
friends during quarantine and we shared stories like we knew each other for a long time.
Our relationship existed online and it felt like they’re just within reach whenever we do
group calls. We played online games and watched movies in rave online like we usually
did before but this time, in a different platform.

With today's technology, we can stay at home and protect ourselves from COVID-19
while still being socially connected with the people we love and care about via text,
phone call, video, and a variety of other platforms.
