Updating CKD Tracker Manual

Updating tracker is done in two stages for the Main server (mainly the computer with internet
connection) :-
 Updating Tracker Main
 Updating Tracker Service
And in one stage for all other computers on the Local Area Network (client machines) :-
 Updating Tracker Main

Stage 1 Updating Tracker Main

This procedure is done on each and every machine with CKD Tracker. An attempt to install on any
other machine without CKD tracker will fail. For any new installation please contact CKD Clearing
Admin.

In order to proceed with updating Tracker Main, please close all programs which might be running
on your computer including CKD Tracker if it is running.

Go to your desktop and right click the icon you use to open your CKD Tracker. Click Properties on the
pop-up screen. A screen similar to the one below show up with Shortcut menu open.
Click the Find Target button. This action will take you to a certain folder. Copy all the contents of
CKD Main folder from your Compact Disk (CD) and paste them to this folder which was previously
opened by the Find Target Button. The system must ask you to confirm file replacement, if not, you
are on wrong place and re-do again from the beginning. Simply click YES or YES to ALL button on the
File Confirmation pop-up screen.
NB:- Please do not just copy the CKD Main Folder To This Executable Folder. Copy the contents
only including subfolders if available.

REPEAT THIS STAGE ON EACH AND EVERY COMPUTER WITH CKD TRACKER ON YOUR NETWORK
INCLUDING THE MAIN SERVER.

Stage 2 Updating Tracker Service

This procedure is done on the server machine ONLY. Your Server is only the machine where both
Stage 1 and Stage 2 must be done. On clients on your network only Stage 1 must be done and NOT
STAGE 2.
An attempt to install on any other machine without CKD tracker will fail. For any new installation
please contact CKD Clearing Admin.

In order to proceed with updating Tracker Service, please close all programs which might be running
on your computer including CKD Tracker if it is running.

Go to your Task Bar and click Start Menu. Point to Settings and click Control Panel. See Screen below
For more details.

Click Control Panel and screen similar to the one below opens.
Click Performance and Maintenance, and screen similar to the one below opens.

Click Administrative Tools, and screen similar to the one below opens.
Click Services, and screen similar to the one below opens.

This screen shows all the services on your computer. Scroll down until you find a service with a name
called Tracker Service. See the screen below.
Right click Tracker Service and click properties on dialog box. A screen similar to one below shows
Click the Stop Button to stop your service from running. Your Service Status must say STOPPED.
Service Startup type must be Automatic, if otherwise change it to Automatic. Click Apply Button.

Open the executable service’s folder using your Windows Explorer. From the diagram above my
folder is "C:\Tracker\Tracker Service\”. This might be different from your computer.
For Example: - to open this folder I can simply double click My Computer icon on my desktop. Point
to C:\ hard drive and then Double click Tracker folder followed by double clicking Tracker Service
Folder.

Once this executable folder is open, copy all the contents of CKD Service folder from your CD and
paste them to this executable folder. The system must ask you to confirm file replacement, if not,
you are on wrong place and re-do again from the beginning. Simply click YES or YES to ALL button on
the File Confirmation pop-up screen.

only including subfolders if available.

THIS STAGE IS ONLY FOR THE MAIN SERVER.

All stages 1 and 2, are both to be done on one of the computers on your Local Area Network. This is
mainly the computer with internet connection.
