Asalam o Aliekum, Brothers & Sisters.

My name is Syed Muhammad Asghar Masood, I will be your host for

tonight’s majlis,

Tonight is the fifth and final majlis of the Karbala for Kids series.

We are going to start our majlis with Tilawat e Quraan

For this I would like to call Muhammad Muslim Mehdavi from
Melbourne to recite some verses from the Holy Quran
Please welcome him with aloud Salawat.

After Qira’at

Thank you very much Brother Muhammad

Today’s Majlis is dedicated to Imam Hussain (a.s)

Who is Imam Hussain?

Imam Hussain was born on the 3rd of Shaban, 4AH in Medina

Imam Hussain is the 3rd in a series of twelve imam.

He is also the second grandson of the holy prophet (p.b.u.h)

His father is Imam Ali a.s (The first Imam)

And his mother is the lady of heaven, Bibi Fatima s.a (daughter of
the prophet p.b.u.h)

The imamate period for imam Hussain lasted 10 years,

He is referred to as syeda shababe ah-lil jan’na alongside his brother

imam hassan (a.s), which translates to the master of the youth of
paradise.

Imam Hussain was present during the battles of Siffin, Jamal and
Nahrawan which all occurred during the time of imam Ali (a.s)

Some other titles of Imam Hussain are;

Abu’Abd-allah

Sayyid al-shuhada (master of the martyrs)

He is one of five members of the prophet (p.b.u.h) ahlebait whom

are discussed in the verse of Al-Tathir

Imam Hussain left Medina for Kufa on the 28 th of Rajab 61AH

accompanied by his family and some companions

Where later he was de-toured to by the Army of Yazid lanallah ho

aleh

To Karbala where he arrived on the 2 nd of Muharram

The Night of Ashura:

Imam Hussain and his followers spent the night of Ashur in worship
of allah and salutations

While gathered around an oil lamp imam Hussain turned off the
lamp and revealed to his companions their destiny of martyrdom
and that they are permitted to leave by him.

However the companions of the imam were extremely loyal and

committed to the imams cause, and they wish to stand alongside
Imam Hussain on the day of judgement.

The Day Of Ashura:

Hazrat Ali Akbar (who was discussed in one of the previous majalis)
gave the Adhan

The companions of the imam volunteered to battle first and thus

were the first martyrs of Karbala

Then Hazrat Ali Akbar, followed by Shahzada Qasim, Hazrat Abbas,

Hazrat Ali Asghar and 18 other members of Imam Hussain’s
household fought a fierce battle and embaced the title of shaheed.

One after another, everyone went to the battlefield until the Imam
was left all alone

Imam Hussain bid farewell to the ladies, fought a battle against the
army of oppressors

When he fell from his horse and mercilessly in the land of Karbala

His head was executed by Shimr lanallah ho aleh and then other
calamities fell upon the household of the Holy prophet of Islam

Shaam e Ghareeban:

The evening of 10th Muharram referred to as ‘shaam- e-ghareeban’

struck the household of the prophet

The enemies trampled the bodies of the martyrs, stole the

belongings of Imam Hussain and his family and then lit fire on the
holy camps of the prophets family.

Lady Zainab became the guardian and protected the household

from the attacks of the enemy

The family of the imam were then made captives and the heads of
the martyrs were put on spears, while the prisoners were made
ready to leave for Kufa and Syria.
Now we will watch a short animation regarding Imam Hussain

And right after animation our Guest Scholar Maulana Abul Qasim
Rizvi will further discuss about Imam Hussain
