Mr. Lomongo, Guests, fellow classmates, a Magis Morning to you all.

Simple foods connect with

your body's needs in complex ways. In other words, we, the people, must connect with each
other in order to supply and nourish the needs of the nation. How can we connect with each
other when we ware separated by tens even hundreds of kilometers. We can take airplanes,
but they are too expensive. We can take boats, but they take too much time. How can we get
from here to there on time and on a budget. I can answer that question. The solution is our
bridge, Fourtruss, the bridge four you to truss, and we are planning to connect a 2.793 km gap
between two major islands. Cebu and Mactan, specifically, south road properties and
Kalawisan, Mactan Island.

This will benefit both Cebu City and Kalawisan, Mactan in two ways, it will lessen traffic in the
other two existing bridges, and it will boost the economy of the two islands. Let’s talk about
the first benefit of our bridge, the first benefit is that the bridge will lessen traffic. The average
travelling time between the two islands using the current bridges is 3-5 minutes by car adding a
third bridge will lessen the travel time to roughly 1-2 minutes or even less. If there will be an
unfortunate accident or construction on either one of the two existing bridges, the cars will not
all converge through one bridge but will split and use the two bridges, thus will lessen the
traffic. The next benefit is the economy. We are planning to put a toll facility near the bridge.
This will help the economy of. Most establishments and factories are in the island of Cebu
and the only existing and functional airport is in Mactan island. The more we connect both
islands the more businesses and establishments will flourish and grow. Thus, this will truly help
the economy of both islands. Before we end, let us talk about the main event, the bridge, and
here to discuss the specifications of the bridge is our engineer, Kent Buladaco.
My name is Kent Buladaco and I am the chief engineer of this project. This expressway will
consist of a bridge, a man-made island for toll services and a causeway leading all the way from
SRP to Kalawisan, Mactan. The main bridge as you can see from this scale model here will be
400 meters long and 35 meters wide, and it will have 3 lanes each way, including a shoulder
lane for accidents. From the seafloor to the tip of the bridge will be approximately 105 meters
with a 55 meter Afetr the main bridge will be an artificial island with toll services. The artificial
island will be 400 meters in length. The toll services will tax cars who pass by based on their
type and weight. The artificial island will also include emergency services that will respond if
there will be any accidents on the bridge. Following the toll service, will be a 1700 meter
elevated causeway with 4 lanes and a shoulder lane. This will connect the artificial island to
Kalawisan in Mactan. The basic materials of the bridge will be cement, steel and asphalt. With
all of this construction, how will the environment be affected? The artificial island with the toll
services will be full of flora and fauna so that the island will really be rooted into the ground.
The island will also not disturb any underwater creatures including corals and habitats.

As an engineer, I have to be aware of different shapes, equations, and formulas present in the
bridge. In our bridge, we have sets of equilateral triangles which are crucial to building bridges
like this. It is all about equality. Equilateral triangles have equal sides, which can even out the
weight load of the bridge. If you pair equilateral triangles to be congruent to each other on
opposite sides, the bridge will be stronger and more stable as it should be.
