PART OF INTRODUCTION

This report is an evidence to show that I have met the learning outcomes in destination analysis in the

following parts:

 Features of different types of destination and the factors that affect a tourist’s choice of a

destination.

 Social, cultural and political features that may affect a destination.

 Information needed to audit a destination.

 Use and significance of the tourism area life cycle (TALC).

According to Olivia Jones Tourist destination is a place on interest where tourists visit typically for its

inherent or exhibited natural of cultural values historical significance, natural or built beauty offering

leisure and amusement.

There are different types of destination which include:

 Religious destinations

 Water sports and diving destinations.

 Shopping destinations

 Cultural – for museum , local traditions

 Culinary –where local food is the dominant criteria.

 Ecotourism.

 Adventure and hiking.

1.0 Features Of A Destination

 cultural values

- The way of life of different people’s encourages the tourist to come and experience it. Ie

museums, temples, zoos, aquaria, art, norms, music, taboos etc.


 climate

- a good climate encourages visitors to visit an area of interest ie in tropical countries. A tourist

will consider a conducive climatic condition to enjoy the visit ie whose who are in summer will

want to winter area.

 Archaeological

- These are places with natural beauty such as beaches, mountains, lakes, oceans, desert, parks and

forest that attracts visitors.

 Religion

- There are different types of religious practices which also encourage people to visit places eg

pilgrimage, marina shrines, visits, missionary travel, faith-based cruising, retreats, and faith-based

camps.

 Ecology

- The diversity of wildlife in natural environment encourages visitors. Many visitors like visiting

wildlife environment eg national parks and national reserves.

 History

- The past and richness of a country development encourages visitation. This includes monuments,

ancient temples, zoos, aquaria museums etc.

 Hotels

- This is also a part of attraction that a person may visit a certain hotel to experience it. This

attraction can be resorts hotels.

 Trade fairs

- Business people visit different places to get information about product an d to get ideas. Eg

during exhibitions.

 Entertainments
- This is the most important feature because all visitors or tourist visit a place for entertainment.

Mostly young people are attracted by this feature.
