1. Dr. Randy Palisoc and Ms. Tisha Jones are both Math Educators. Tisha Jones is also a course
designer and a math instructor primarily for Elementary Education. She also has a Master’s
Degree in Educational Psychology and is currently studying to get her Doctorate Degree in Early
Childhood Education and Teaching. Dr. Palisoc designs curriculums for schools as he is also a
teacher in James Jordan Middle School. They are both passionate educators in sharing their
knowledge about Mathematics as a very helpful and interesting subject to understand and get
mastery of.

2. In dealing with math, we may struggle a lot as we try and figure out the answers to the most
complicated questions or equations. The speaker suggested anyway that, Mathematics is about
thinking, and in life, we learn most when things are hard. Rather than just getting stressed, we
should practice our abilities to think to get the answers by working hard, rather than wanting
others to solve it for us. It is also alright to make mistakes as these can help us figure out the
steps in acquiring the right answers to the questions, we seek answer of.

3. I think that the most important insight in the video is the thought that Math can and should
have a bigger purpose aside from enhancing mathematical skills. Mathematics provides us not
only mathematical knowledge but also lessons that can help us in our lives. One mentioned is
that through math are we able to listen to other’s perspectives on how they solve particular
equations or problems, that allows us to respect differences. If this is to be recognized in real-
world scenarios as something that Math can teach us, more people would be understanding and
respectful towards one another.

4. Math is a language that allows communication. Before the existence of algebra, calculus, etc.,
math is used in communicating and connecting to the world, and should still be recognized
today. Math can be taught in a language approach, including words as an important part of an
equation in order to solve it better and easier. In solving math, it is important to look and take
notice of the words that can make us solve problems and there are examples in the video. In
fractions, when solved in a language approach, can be solved easier and in a less confusing
manner.
5. Math should not be taught as a dehumanized subject that causes confusion in learners. Instead,
it should be treated as a language that is needed by everyone to communicate, as math is needed
in building a world that doesn’t yet exist. By teaching math in a more relatable manner, being
that in a language approach, would students be proficient in Math, thus more minds enhanced
through math. This can also help students be more interested if the image of Mathematics would
shift to be fun and relatable rather than the existing image being a complicated and a stressful
one.
