List of German Verbs With Prepositions: Glauben in
List of German Verbs With Prepositions: Glauben in
Introduction
As a beginner, learning German verbs and prepositions can be quite intimidating. Why?
Because verbs are often connected with prepositions and many a times, beginners tend to
translate the verb-preposition combinations with the aid of their mother-tongue.
The prepositions which we use in German differ from those used in English. Let's take a look
at this phrase. In English, we say “believe in” but in German, we say “glauben an” and not
glauben in. Also, when prepositions are used with verbs, they often lose their original
meaning. For instance, “auf ” literally means “on” however, “warten auf ” means “to wait
for”.
Of course it is difficult to remember all the combinations. Learning them takes a lot of time
and exposure to the language. But luckily, many verbs are always associated with a specific
preposition. These verb-preposition combos also determine the case of the object.
In this e-book, we have covered all the important and commonly used verb-preposition
phrases as well as some adjectives with prepositions. Wherever possible, we have also added
the nouns derived from verbs. Even the noun forms of the verbs usually take the same
preposition. Keep practicing German daily and you'll master this list in no time!
Important tip - Don’t forget to learn the cases along with the prepositions!
